Rome's premier market for collectible toys, featuring LEGO, Barbie, Smurfs, and retro video games
The Vintage Toy Exchange Market is one of the most beloved and well-attended events on Rome's collecting calendar. Organized by the L'Angolo del Niente di Nuovo association, the event takes over the entire conference center of the Hotel Mercure Roma West, located at Viale degli Eroi di Cefalonia 301 in the Spinaceto area, just a stone's throw from the EUR district in the southern part of the capital.
This is not just a simple market fair: it is a time machine. On the tables, you will find pieces ranging from the 1930s to the 1980s and 90s, as well as more recent collections that are already highly sought after by enthusiasts. Those who enter just to take a quick look almost always leave with something in their hands and a flood of memories.
The heart of the event lies in the approximately 150 stalls spread across the various exhibition halls. Exhibitors arrive from every corner of Italy, each bringing their own specialty. Variety is the true hallmark of the Exchange: it ranges from discontinued LEGO sets to 90s plush toys, from porcelain dolls to Japanese robots, all in one seamless experience.
Upon entry, you are provided with a detailed map of the halls: a small but precious detail that allows you to quickly locate the right stall without wandering aimlessly through hundreds of meters of tables. Many visitors arrive with a precise list, while others rely on chance. In either case, the beauty lies in the dialogue with the sellers, who often know the history and origin of every single piece and are happy to share it.
The format is that of an exchange market in the most authentic sense: you buy, you sell, but above all, you trade and compare. It is a meeting place for a large and passionate community of collectors in Italy, which finds its gathering opportunity here twice a year.
Despite its distinctly collector-focused nature, the Exchange is also designed for those arriving with children. Admission is free for children up to twelve years old, and the atmosphere is relaxed, far from the frenzy of large trade fairs. For many parents, it is an opportunity to show their little ones the toys they grew up with, and in the summer editions, stations have even appeared to test out vintage video games.
The capital has a long-standing tradition of exchange exhibitions and specialized markets, ranging from paper collectibles to vinyl records. The Vintage Toy Exchange Market has carved out a very specific niche in this landscape, becoming a reference point not only for the Municipality of Rome and the Metropolitan City but for the entire Lazio region and central Italy. Its regular schedule โ typically one winter appointment, one in spring, and one between summer and autumn โ has made it a highly anticipated stop, marked on the calendar well in advance by collectors.
The 2026 edition of the Vintage Toy Exchange Market was held over two distinct weekends, both at the Hotel Mercure Roma West on Viale degli Eroi di Cefalonia 301, in the Spinaceto area.
The first appointment took place on Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1, 2026, with over one hundred exhibitors from all over Italy and a selection ranging from 1930s pieces to the most recent productions already targeted by collectors.
The second was held on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29, 2026, with about 150 stalls distributed throughout the conference center halls. On this occasion too, admission was set at 3 euros, with free entry for children up to twelve years old, and every visitor received a detailed map of the halls upon arrival.
