About Più libri più liberi

Every December, the Nuvola dell'EUR—the futuristic convention center designed by Massimiliano Fuksas—hosts Più libri più liberi in Rome, the National Fair of Small and Medium Enterprises organized by the Italian Publishers Association. Five days dedicated to independent publishing, featuring hundreds of publishing houses, author meetings, readings, debates, and a rich program for children and families. An unmissable event for readers, booksellers, and book professionals.

The hub of Italian independent publishing

Più libri più liberi is Italy's premier event entirely dedicated to small and medium-sized publishing. Organized by the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), it takes place annually in Rome, in the EUR district, transforming the capital of Lazio for five days into the national landmark for those who love books outside the major commercial circuits. The fair brings together hundreds of independent publishing houses from all over Italy, offering the public the chance to discover catalogs, new releases, and editorial voices that are hard to find elsewhere.

The Nuvola by Fuksas, a unique setting

Since 2017, the event has found its home at the Nuvola, the Rome Convention Center designed by architect Massimiliano Fuksas: a suspended structure of steel and Teflon that has become one of the symbols of contemporary Rome. Its vast, luminous spaces house publisher stands, meeting rooms, the Auditorium, the Business Centre for professionals, and areas for children and teenagers. Its location in the EUR district, well-served by the metro, makes the fair easily accessible from all over the city.

A vast program

The heart of Più libri più liberi is its cultural program, which features hundreds of events each year: book presentations, meetings with Italian and international authors, readings, musical performances, debates on current affairs, lectures, and round tables. Ample space is reserved for children's literature, comics, and graphic novels, with sections designed for younger readers and families. There is also no shortage of professional meetings in the Business Centre and activities in the Rights Centre, dedicated to industry operators and the exchange of rights.

A Roman tradition

Founded in 2002, Più libri più liberi has grown to become one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year in Rome and Lazio, attracting over one hundred thousand visitors each edition. Its timing, close to the Immaculate Conception holiday in early December, makes it the perfect opportunity to get a head start on Christmas shopping by choosing from small and medium-sized publishers, but above all, it is a moment of encounter for readers, writers, booksellers, and publishers who believe in bibliodiversity and freedom of expression.
