About Vinci a Teatro

Vinci a Teatro is the theatre festival that brings the Teatro di Vinci to life every June, in the heart of the Tuscany that gave birth to Leonardo. Promoted by the Compagnia Unicorno, it offers eight evenings of free performances: a world premiere by the company and works by students of the theatre courses. A festival that showcases the talent of the Florence area, ranging from comedy and classics to new scripts, in a warm and engaging village atmosphere.

A festival that brings theatre to life in Vinci

Every June, the Teatro di Vinci, located on Via Pierino da Vinci, becomes the meeting point for local theatre enthusiasts with Vinci a Teatro, the festival promoted by the Compagnia Unicorno. In the municipality of Vinci, in the Province of Florence and in the heart of Leonardo's Tuscany, this event has become a highly anticipated early summer fixture, filling the hall for several consecutive evenings thanks to a rich programme and completely free admission.

Eight evenings of premieres and student works

The beauty of Vinci a Teatro lies in its dual nature. On one hand, there is the world premiere by the Compagnia Unicorno, which opens the festival with a production meticulously curated in every detail, from direction to acting. On the other, there are the evenings dedicated to the work carried out throughout the year in the company's theatre courses: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and youth courses, as well as the acting refinement workshop. It is a tangible way to give back to the community the educational journey of many students, from the youngest to adults, who take to the stage to showcase the results of months of rehearsals.

A project that grows year by year

The festival is now a small but firm pillar of Vinci's cultural life. Over the years, a true theatre community has built up around the Compagnia Unicorno, made up of teachers, students, and loyal spectators who return punctually for every edition. The choice of texts deliberately ranges across different repertoires: from theatre classics like Goldoni, Molière, Shakespeare, and De Filippo to lighter comedies and contemporary writing, offering a different tone for every evening.

Vinci, the village of Leonardo

Attending an evening at Vinci a Teatro is also an opportunity to discover or rediscover Vinci, a hillside village in the Montalbano area famous worldwide for being the birthplace of Leonardo. Between the Leonardian Museum, the birthplace in Anchiano, and the landscapes of vineyards and olive groves, the town combines great Tuscan history with a vibrant community dimension, of which the theatre festival is one of the most heartfelt expressions.

Why it's worth it

  • Free admission for all evenings, upon reservation.
  • Varied programme: company world premiere plus student showcase performances.
  • Authentic village theatre atmosphere, far from the big circuits.
  • An opportunity to visit Vinci and its Leonardian sites.
