The Christmas market in Predazzo, Val di Fiemme
Every winter, Piazza SS. Filippo e Giacomo in the center of Predazzo transforms into the Villaggio sotto l'Albero, the most characteristic Christmas market in Val di Fiemme. Surrounded by illuminated wooden huts and a grove of fragrant firs encircling the grand tree at the heart of the square, the valley's main town dons its most evocative attire to accompany residents and visitors throughout the Advent and holiday season.
Inside the village huts, you will find handmade items and typical local products, perfect for Christmas gifts. Every afternoon, traditional bonfires warm the atmosphere, while mulled wine and hot chocolate are always available for both adults and children. It is an authentic village-style mountain Christmas that blends Dolomite tradition with a love for simple, genuine things.
The calendar for the Villaggio sotto l'Albero is packed with events designed for the whole family. The festivities kick off with the arrival of Saint Nicholas, followed by the formidable Krampus, in accordance with a ritual deeply rooted in Alpine culture. The following weeks feature live concerts, violin and guitar performances, traditional choirs, the arrival of Saint Lucy, the Christmas Clown, the Circus under the Tree, snow games in collaboration with the Marcialonga, and plenty of activities for the little ones.
The highlight of the celebrations is the night of December 31st, when the square lights up with a grand New Year's Eve toast with a DJ to welcome the new year together. The village closes the season on January 6th with the arrival of the Befana and a baby dance dedicated to children.
Located in Trentino-Alto Adige, in the province of Trento, the town of Predazzo is one of the gateways to the Dolomites and boasts a long tradition linked to Nordic skiing and the Marcialonga. The Villaggio sotto l'Albero is the perfect opportunity to experience the magic of Christmas in the mountains, combining the market with a snow holiday among the splendid peaks of the valley.
