About Vicoli di Gusto

Vicoli di Gusto is the food and wine festival that brings the ancient alleys of Roccavivi, a hamlet of San Vincenzo Valle Roveto in the province of L'Aquila, to life every late June. For two days, historic cellars and town center stalls open their doors to help visitors rediscover traditional flavors, local products from the Valle Roveto, and authentic Abruzzese recipes, complete with a craft market, live music, DJ sets, and the Cicloturistica degli Ulivi cycling event.

Vicoli di Gusto, the taste of the Valle Roveto

Vicoli di Gusto is one of the most anticipated food and wine events in the Valle Roveto, located in the heart of the province of L'Aquila. It takes place every year in late June in the ancient village of Roccavivi, a hamlet of the municipality of San Vincenzo Valle Roveto, in Abruzzo. The idea behind the event is simple and charming: to open up historic cellars and set up stalls along the characteristic village alleys, allowing visitors to rediscover the flavors of the past, local products, and ancient recipes from the Abruzzese farming tradition.

Open cellars and local flavors

The heart of the festival lies in the cellars and food and wine stalls scattered throughout the historic center. Visitors can stroll from alley to alley, tasting traditional dishes, local products, wine, beer, and sweets. The Valle Roveto is known for several culinary excellences that find their natural stage here, such as Monicella olive oil (a Slow Food Presidium), local wine, and Roscetta chestnuts. The atmosphere of the village, with its ancient stone walls and picturesque views, makes the tasting experience a perfect blend of gastronomy, landscape, and history.

Market, music, and the Cicloturistica degli Ulivi

In addition to the cellars, the market for local products and handicrafts runs along Corso Vagnolo, featuring painting, collectibles, and artisanal goods. The evenings are accompanied by live music, roving bands, and DJ sets that keep the squares lively until late at night. In recent years, the event has been enriched by the Cicloturistica degli Ulivi, a stage of the "Ciclo tour Abruzzo Experience," featuring mountain bike trails of varying difficulty through the olive groves and valley panoramas.

A village to discover

Roccavivi is more than just a festival venue: during the event, short treks to the Eremo della Madonna delle Grazie are often organized, allowing visitors to combine tastings with the discovery of the area's religious and natural heritage. Organized by the Terrenostre Community Cooperative with the Pro Loco and local associations, Vicoli di Gusto is now a defining event for the entire Valle Roveto and a precious opportunity to showcase a small village in the heart of inland Abruzzo.
