The oldest hill climb in Friuli Venezia Giulia, valid for the Italian Mountain Speed Championship
The Verzegnis-Sella Chianzutan Hill Climb is one of the institutions of Friulian motorsport: with its long history, it is considered the oldest hill climb in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Every summer, in the municipality of Verzegnis in the province of Udine, the roar of engines invades the Carnia woods as sports cars, prototypes, and single-seaters tackle the road to Sella Chianzutan alone, against the clock.
The course measures 5.640 meters, starting at an altitude of about 500 meters and finishing at 896 meters above sea level, with an average gradient of 7.2%. A technical and selective ribbon of asphalt, made of hairpin bends and fast curves, which tests the drivers' skills and the cars' setup, in a natural setting of great charm.
The race is valid for the Italian Mountain Speed Championship (Central-Northern group) and attracts an international field: it is also part of the Austrian Championship for mountain speed, the IRS Cup, and the Regional Championship of Friuli Venezia Giulia. A combination that brings some of the best European hill climb specialists to the Carnia hairpin bends.
Organized by E4Run ASD, based in Udine, the hill climb is more than just a competition: it is an eagerly awaited event for the community of Verzegnis and all of Carnia, which for an entire weekend lives to the rhythm of engines amidst paddocks, practice sessions, and the race. The Municipality of Verzegnis and the Province of Udine support an event that combines sport, passion, and promotion of the Friulian mountain territory.
The 55th edition takes place on the weekend of July 17-19, 2026, with the usual program including scrutineering, official practice sessions, and the race. The 5.640-meter climb, valid for multiple national and international championships, draws the protagonists of mountain speed racing to Verzegnis. The event is organized by E4Run ASD.
The 55th edition takes place from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19, 2026. The detailed timetable (technical and sporting scrutineering, official practice sessions, race heats, and awards ceremony) will be published by the organizers and on ACI Sport in the weeks preceding the event.
