The Vertical Rocciamelone is a skyrunning race run entirely uphill, starting from Rifugio La Riposa (2,182 meters) and finishing at the summit of Rocciamelone, the 3,538-meter peak that dominates the lower Susa Valley and is considered the iconic mountain of the Turin valleys. The course, short but extremely demanding, measures approximately 4.5 km with 1,380 meters of positive elevation gain, a gradient that tests even the most trained athletes. Where and when
The event takes place in the Municipality of Mompantero, a small town in the Susa Valley at the foot of Rocciamelone, in the Metropolitan City of Turin (Piedmont). The 2026 edition, the third in its history, is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026. The race is capped at a maximum of 200 participants, and registration is managed via the Wedosport platform.
The CRAZY Vertical Italy Cup circuit
From 2026, the Vertical Rocciamelone joins the CRAZY Vertical Italy Cup, the official circuit organized under the aegis of FISky (Italian Skyrunning Federation), created to promote the vertical discipline and select athletes for the National Skyrunning Teams. The 2026 circuit includes eight stages across Italy: the Vertical Rocciamelone is the second event on the calendar, between the Vertical del Lago di Como and the Valgerola Vertical.
A race with strong local roots
The event is organized by Piossasco Trail Runners ASD together with Li Viol Ousitan ASD, with the essential collaboration of the Susa Mountain Rescue for high-altitude safety. Climbing the Rocciamelone is more than just a sporting test: the summit hosts the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Rocciamelone, a historic pilgrimage destination, and offers a panorama from the top that stretches from the Cottian Alps to Monviso. For skyrunners, conquering this mountain on foot is one of the most intense experiences of the Piedmontese summer.

Getting there
Mompantero can be reached by car from the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway, taking the Susa exit and continuing towards Rifugio La Riposa along the road to the La Riposa hamlet. By train, the reference station is Susa, which is connected to Turin. The race start is located at Rifugio La Riposa (2,182 m).

Online registration via the Wedosport platform, with a limited number of spots (maximum 200 athletes). The entry fee includes a race bib, race pack, finisher medal, pasta party, and free photos.
Tips
