Verginese in Musica is a summer concert series held every July in the setting of the Delizia Estense del Verginese, in Gambulaga, a hamlet of the Municipality of Portomaggiore, in the province of Ferrara. The event transforms this historic Renaissance residence into a space dedicated to live music and the enhancement of the site, combining musical art with the charm of one of the most fascinating cultural assets in eastern Emilia-Romagna.

The Delizia of Verginese

The Delizia of Verginese is one of the famous delizie estensi, the holiday and representative residences that the Este dynasty scattered throughout the Ferrarese territory between the 15th and 16th centuries. Surrounded by its brolo, the walled garden typical of these residences, the Delizia offers a refined and intimate setting, capable of amplifying the intimacy of the concerts held there. The series was created precisely to bring life and audiences back to this place, now part of the cultural heritage circuits of Ferrara and the Po Delta.

A Quality Series

Now in its seventh edition in 2026, Verginese in Musica offers three evening events each year, spread over three July evenings. The program ranges across different genres – jazz, singer-songwriter music, Argentine tango, vocal experimentation, and French music – with ensembles featuring local musicians and notable guests. Artistic direction is entrusted to the Associazione Polifonica Il Nuovo Echo, while organization is handled by the Cooperativa Atlantide along with the Pro Loco of Portomaggiore and in collaboration with the Municipality.

An Event Accessible to All

All concerts have free admission, with reservations recommended given the limited capacity of the venue. A refreshment area is available before the performances, allowing attendees to enjoy the evening at a relaxed pace, savoring an aperitif or a light dinner amidst the greenery of the Delizia before taking their seats for the concert. The series is part of the summer program of PortomaggiorEstate, the schedule of events spread throughout the municipal territory.
