Music, cinema, and Alpine culture within the medieval walls of Glorenza
The Venosta Festival is a summer series celebrating music, cinema, and Alpine culture, held in Glorenza (Glurns), the smallest town in South Tyrol, located in the Upper Vinschgau Valley (Obervinschgau) in the province of Bolzano. Over several evenings between late spring and early autumn, the historic center and the famous medieval walls of Glorenza transform into a unique setting for open-air concerts and screenings, drawing audiences from across the valley and the neighboring regions of Austria and Switzerland.
The festival's formula combines diverse genres: from international pop stars to German and South Tyrolean schlager performers, and from Bavarian brass bands to the Mountainstory Bergfilmfestival—an evening dedicated to mountain cinema and photography, featuring storytelling, spectacular films, and guests from the world of mountaineering. This blend of light music and Alpine culture makes the Venosta Festival an event that appeals to young people, families, and mountain enthusiasts alike.
The charm of the event is rooted in its location: Glorenza has preserved its walls, towers, and arcades intact, and is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages in the Alps. Listening to live music or watching an open-air screening with this backdrop is an experience that combines entertainment, historical heritage, and the landscape of the Vinschgau Valley.
The Venosta Festival is organized by the Ferienregion Obervinschgau, the tourism association of the Upper Vinschgau Valley that brings together Malles, Glorenza, Sluderno, and Tubre. Tickets are available online on the official festival website and through ticketing platforms, as well as at the information offices in Malles, Glorenza, San Valentino alla Muta, and Resia. As this is a bilingual territory, much of the communication is provided in both Italian and German.
The 2026 edition of the Venosta Festival in Glorenza is divided into three main events. On Friday, June 19th, Spanish singer-songwriter Alvaro Soler brings his summer hits like "Sofia," "El mismo sol," and "La cintura" within the medieval walls, accompanied by the "Südtirol Talent" project featuring seven young South Tyrolean voices and guests like Nia Len and Lena.
On July 31st, it is time for the Mountainstory Bergfilmfestival: the festival area opens at 6:00 PM, followed by mountain film screenings at 8:00 PM with guests on stage and photo exhibitions, moderated by mountaineer Simon Messner, concluding around 11:00 PM.
The grand finale takes place on September 4th with the German pop band Münchener Freiheit, alongside Bluatschink and the OPUS Band x Schick Sisters, for an evening of great classics and nostalgic atmosphere.
