About Venetico Spring Festival

The Venetico Spring Festival is a popular community event that brings Piazza Immacolata to life every spring in the charming village of Venetico Superiore, in the province of Messina. Organized by the 'Associazione Venetico per tutti', the festival combines craft markets, tastings of local specialties, live performances, music, and children's entertainment in a festive atmosphere that unites the entire community. It is a day dedicated to rediscovering local traditions, supporting regional craftsmanship, and experiencing the allure of an ancient town overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The festival that welcomes spring in Venetico

The Venetico Spring Festival is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of the small town of Venetico, in the province of Messina, in the heart of the Tyrrhenian side of Sicily. The event takes place in the scenic Piazza Immacolata, in the village of Venetico Superiore, and marks the arrival of the warmer season each year with a day entirely dedicated to traditions, craftsmanship, and conviviality. The event is promoted by the Associazione Venetico per tutti, a local volunteer group that manages the organization by involving residents, merchants, and local artisans.

Craft market and local products

The heart of the festival is the craft market: stalls are set up along the streets and in the square, where artisans and merchants display their creations, ranging from traditional handmade goods to local products. It is the perfect opportunity to showcase artistic trades and local craftsmanship, rediscovering skills and techniques passed down through generations. Alongside the stalls, there are creative workshops and discovery activities for both adults and children.

Flavors, music, and entertainment

The Spring Festival is also a journey through Sicilian flavors: among the most anticipated highlights are the gastronomic tastings, featuring the classic sausage sandwich and local wine to accompany the evening. The square also comes alive with entertainment shows, live music, and children's activities, including games, dancing, and plenty of fun for families. The atmosphere is simple and genuine, typical of village festivals that pride themselves on participation and hospitality.

A village to discover

The festival is also an invitation to explore Venetico Superiore, an ancient village perched on the hills overlooking the sea. Strolling through the alleys, you will encounter the remains of the 15th-century castle and the Mother Church of San Nicolรฒ, testaments to a centuries-old history. The event thus represents a precious opportunity to combine the festival experience with the rediscovery of the historical and scenic heritage of this corner of the province of Messina, in Sicily.

A growing tradition

Reaching its tenth edition in 2025, the Venetico Spring Festival has firmly established itself as a staple of the Messina spring season, drawing visitors from neighboring towns and strengthening the sense of community. It is a free event for everyone, celebrating the identity of a small Sicilian town through taste, craftsmanship, and the joy of being together.
