Summer jazz in the squares of Valsugana, with a stop in Grigno
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Valsugana Jazz Tour is one of the most deeply rooted jazz festivals in Trentino. Conceived in 2003 by the FaRe Jazz association, the festival travels through various towns in the Valsugana valley every summer, using an itinerant format that favors squares and open-air spaces. The Municipality of Grigno, located in the lower Valsugana in the province of Trento, is one of the event's historic venues: concerts are held in Piazza Dante, in the heart of the town, with free admission.
From its inception, the Valsugana Jazz Tour has chosen to take jazz out of clubs and theaters, returning it to the local communities. The festival, led by FaRe Jazz president Matteo Moser, combines established artists from the national and international scene with selected young talents: since 2006, the festival has dedicated space to emerging groups, offering them a valuable showcase. This dual identity—big names and new discoveries—makes every evening an engaging experience for both enthusiasts and the curious.
Grigno is a small town in the Valsugana valley, overlooking the Brenta River and surrounded by the Lagorai woods. Known for the Bigonda and Calgeron caves and the Grigno Marsh biotope, the town offers an intimate and authentic setting, perfect for an open-air summer concert. The festival is part of the broader TrentinoInJazz circuit, a widespread network of jazz festivals that enlivens the entire provincial territory every summer.
The Valsugana Jazz Tour is part of the summer program of TrentinoInJazz, alongside other regional festivals such as Val di Fassa Panorama Music, Lagarina Jazz, and the stops in the Valli del Noce. The free-admission format and the focus on artistic quality make this event a benchmark for jazz in Trentino-Alto Adige. In Grigno, the stop in Piazza Dante confirms the festival's commitment to reaching even the smallest centers of the valley.
The 2026 edition of the Valsugana Jazz Tour has been announced as part of the summer program of TrentinoInJazz, with the festival scheduled for August 7-9. The full program, the list of artists, and the final list of venues have not yet been released by the organization: it is therefore not confirmed whether the Municipality of Grigno will be among the towns involved in this edition. Information will be updated as soon as the official program is published.
Grigno can be reached by car via the SS47 Valsugana road; the town is also served by the Valsugana railway (Trento–Venice line), with a station just a few minutes from the center. It is approximately a 45-minute drive from Trento.
The Valsugana Jazz Tour concerts in Grigno are held in Piazza Dante, in the town center, with free admission.
