A day of hiking, river sports, art, and workshops with the Guides of Valsesia
The Valsesia G-Day – A Day with the Guides was born from a simple yet ambitious idea: to concentrate the entire wealth of tourism, hiking, river, and cycling opportunities in Valsesia into a single village for one Sunday. Visitors are led by the Valsesia Tourist and Hiking Guides, authorized professionals who dedicate their expertise for a day to help tourists, groups, and families discover the area.
Following its 2025 debut in Campertogno, the 2026 event was held in Scopa, a small town in the province of Vercelli overlooking the Sesia River. The meeting point was the historic village center, behind the parish church, serving as the hub for all-day excursions, tours, and activities.
The program weaves together three souls of the territory. There is the mountain, with guided hikes to Alpe Lagone and along thematic trails dedicated to the energy of the woods and public art. There is the Sesia River, the true star of the Valsesian summer, with rafting descents, canyoning experiences, and introductory canoeing sessions for younger participants. And there is culture, with guided tours of the village's heritage and children's workshops.
The Valsesia G-Day is also a community day: all activities are donation-based, and the entire proceeds are donated to a local heritage restoration project. In Scopa, the goal was the recovery of the ancient 17th-century communal oven, a precious testament to the village's history and traditions.
The initiative is organized by the Guides of Valsesia in collaboration with the Municipality of Scopa and the Pro Loco Scopa Valsesia, with Radio Valsesia as media partner. It is an event that perfectly captures the spirit of Valsesia: a territory that makes nature, outdoor sports, and local solidarity its defining traits.
The second edition of the Valsesia G-Day brought hundreds of participants to Scopa for a Sunday dedicated to experiential tourism, also favored by the beautiful weather. The Guides of Valsesia offered guided treks, tours discovering local peculiarities, river activities on the Sesia, canyoning, and workshops for families, with a focus on sharing and supporting the community.
The proceeds from the event were allocated to the restoration project of Scopa's ancient communal oven, an important testament to the village's history and traditions.

Scopa is located in the middle Valsesia valley, in the province of Vercelli, along the state road leading up the valley towards Alagna. By car, it can be reached from the A26 motorway (exit Romagnano Sesia-Ghemme) by continuing along the SS299. The village is also served by the Valsesia bus line.

All activities are donation-based. Some offerings (canyoning, rafting, canoeing) require booking and have limited availability.
We recommend sportswear, suitable trekking shoes, and a change of clothes for those choosing river activities.
