The trail of the upper Valtellina

The Valgrosina Trail is one of the most beloved events for mountain running enthusiasts in the upper Valtellina. The race starts from Grosio, in the province of Sondrio, at an altitude of 650 meters, and unfolds along the trails of Valgrosina, in the wild heart of the Eita and Sacco valleys. A route that crosses woods, alpine pastures, and numerous high-altitude lakes, offering participants breathtaking views.

Three distances for every runner

The event offers three routes of varying difficulty: the long course (approx. 70 km with 5,000 meters of positive elevation gain), the medium course (approx. 38 km and 2,600 meters of elevation gain), and the short course (approx. 12 km and 850 meters of elevation gain). The long course, a true test for ultratrailers, reaches the Pas dei Màt at over 2,800 meters, the highest and most symbolic point of the entire race.

Start and finish in Grosio

The start and finish are in the historic village of Grosio, with the finish line set up in the gardens of Villa Visconti Venosta, where athletes are welcomed by the traditional pasta party. Running the Valgrosina Trail means immersing yourself in an unspoiled alpine environment, with panoramas ranging from lakes to peaks, while experiencing the warmth of a community that embraces the race as a celebration.

An event that grows year by year

Now in its fifth edition, the Valgrosina Trail has established itself in the calendar of Lombardy mountain races, attracting runners from all over Italy and helping to promote Valgrosina and upper Valtellina as a land of trail running and pristine nature.
