The rally on the dirt tracks of the Val d'Orcia, between Radicofani and the Sienese hills
The Val d'Orcia Rally is one of the most anticipated events in Tuscan motorsport. Organized by the ASD Scuderia Radicofani Motorsport, every spring it brings dozens of crews to the dirt roads that wind between Radicofani and the municipalities of the Val d'Orcia and the Sienese Valdichiana, in the Province of Siena. The race is valid for the Italian Gravel Rally Championship (CIRT) and the Italian Historic Gravel Rally Championship (CIRTS), a dual soul that brings both modern Rally2 cars and iconic historic rally cars to the track.
What makes this rally special is its setting: the special stages run through the gullies, clay hills, and landscapes that have made the Val d'Orcia famous worldwide. The historic center of Radicofani, dominated by its medieval fortress, hosts the headquarters and the arrival ceremony, offering fans an exceptional backdrop. The route is never the same: each year, the organizers design tracks that showcase the local municipalities, from San Casciano dei Bagni to Sarteano, and even the most hidden hamlets.
Born as a regional trial, the race has grown over the years into a nationally significant event, capable of attracting top-tier drivers from the Italian and international scenes. The white roads around Radicofani offer a technical and selective terrain, highly appreciated by gravel specialists. The event involves the entire territory, with the support of the municipalities involved and a strong public turnout along the special stages and service areas.
The competition is surrounded by a packed program of technical inspections, shakedowns, a service park open to fans, and festivities in the villages of the Val d'Orcia. For motorsport enthusiasts, it is an opportunity to experience the adrenaline of the rally up close; for the region, it is a showcase that combines sport, tradition, and tourism promotion in southern Tuscany.
The 17th edition of the Val d'Orcia Rally effectively opened the season of the Italian Gravel Rally Championship, attracting 93 crews to the start among the hills of Radicofani, in the Province of Siena. The route, partially new, involved the municipalities of Radicofani, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano, and for the first time, Cetona. The race crowned Tommaso Ciuffi and Pietro Cigni in a Skoda Fabia RS, ahead of a field of top-tier drivers from the Italian gravel championship.
Shakedown in the morning on the San Casciano dei Bagni–Strada di Cammattole stretch, followed by the first leg with five special stages.
Second and decisive leg with five more special stages.
Final arrival in the historic center of Radicofani. A total of ten special stages for 99.15 km of timed sections on a route of over 415 km.
Overall victory in the CIRT for Tommaso Ciuffi and Pietro Cigni (Skoda Fabia RS), ahead of Constant-Martini and Andreucci-Gallotti. In the Italian Historic Gravel Rally Championship (2nd Historic Val d'Orcia Rally), success went to Bruno Pelliccioni and Lorenzo Ercolani in a Ford Escort RS MKII. Among the 2026 innovations, the inclusion of the municipality of Cetona in the route.
Radicofani is located in the south of the Province of Siena, in Tuscany. By car, it can be reached from the Fabro or Chiusi-Chianciano Terme exits of the A1 motorway, continuing along the SS2 Cassia. The nearest train station is Chiusi-Chianciano Terme.
The event headquarters and the finish ceremony are located in the historic center of Radicofani.
Traffic closures are planned along the dirt special stages: it is advisable to check the official schedules published by the organization and ACI Sport in advance. To watch the special stages, it is best to reach the viewpoints early and follow the instructions of the course staff.
