A month of grand music in the heart of Monte Amiata, featuring theatre, auditoriums, and the magical 16th-century Peschiera.
The Santa Fiora in Musica International Festival is one of the most significant cultural events in the Monte Amiata region and the entire province of Grosseto, in Tuscany. Born in 1999 as a campus dedicated to brass instruments, over nearly thirty years it has grown into a rich and varied festival, attracting some of the biggest names on the Italian and international music scene to the small Municipality of Santa Fiora.
Santa Fiora is ranked among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy": a historic centre perched on the slopes of the extinct Amiata volcano, divided into the three districts of Castello, Borgo, and Montecatino. It is in Montecatino that you will find the famous 16th-century Peschiera, a stunning spring-fed pool that art historian Cesare Brandi described as a place of almost Ariostesque beauty. The festival concerts take place around the Peschiera and in the Teatro Andrea Camilleri—named after the writer who loved these lands—creating a perfect dialogue between music, nature, and architecture.
The festival's roots lie in the tradition of brass bands, and even today, the event hosts some of the most prominent Italian and international trumpeters. Over time, the programme has expanded to include diverse genres: classical and symphonic music, chamber music, jazz, and singer-songwriter performances. A significant portion is dedicated to young musicians, thanks to collaborations with the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and summer masterclasses that make Santa Fiora a benchmark for musical training.
Promoted by the Fondazione Santa Fiora Cultura, the festival is much more than just a series of concerts: it is a tangible sign of the cultural vitality of Italy's small villages. During the festival weeks, the town comes alive and opens up to the world, revealing its musical soul and welcoming an audience that travels from all over Tuscany and beyond. For those visiting Monte Amiata in summer, attending a festival evening is the best way to experience the authentic atmosphere of this village of water and stone.
The 27th edition of the Santa Fiora in Musica International Festival takes place in summer 2026 in the village of Santa Fiora, on Monte Amiata (Grosseto, Tuscany). The festival, promoted by the Fondazione Santa Fiora Cultura, confirms its vocation of uniting great soloists, chamber and symphonic music, and the brass tradition. Concerts are held between the Teatro Andrea Camilleri and the Auditorium della Peschiera, generally starting at 9:15 PM.
Enriching the festival are further concerts in August and the traditional summer masterclasses and workshops dedicated to brass and strings, in collaboration with the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. The full August programme will be announced by the organization on official channels in the preceding weeks.
