The world's most famous trail running week, with Courmayeur as the heart of the Italian side
The UTMB Mont-Blanc is the global benchmark for trail running: a week of races winding around the Mont Blanc massif, crossing Italy, France, and Switzerland. Courmayeur, in the Aosta Valley, is the event's main Italian base and the starting point for some of the most demanding races, offering days of great sporting celebration.
Several UTMB week races begin in the Aosta Valley town:
The main event, the UTMB (over 170 km), starts from Chamonix but crosses the Aosta Valley region, passing through Courmayeur.
With thousands of athletes from dozens of nations and an impressive audience, the UTMB Mont-Blanc transforms Courmayeur, in the province of Aosta, into one of the world capitals of endurance. Participation requires accumulating 'Running Stones' or qualifying through the UTMB World Series, testifying to the event's absolute level.
The 2026 edition of the UTMB Mont-Blanc is scheduled from August 24 to 30, with Courmayeur as the main Italian base. The TDS (148 km) starts here on August 24, along with the ETC – Experience Trail Courmayeur, and most importantly, the CCC on August 28 (101 km, 6050 m elevation gain, starting at 9:00 AM, finishing in Chamonix). The main UTMB race (over 170 km) starts from Chamonix and crosses the Aosta Valley region.
