Italy's biggest fantasy event in the village of Vinci
The Unicorn Festival is considered the largest event dedicated to the world of fantasy, cosplay, and nerd culture in Italy. Every summer, it transforms the historic village of Vinci, in the heart of the Florence province, into a grand enchanted kingdom. For three days, the squares, alleys, and courtyards of the town that gave birth to Leonardo da Vinci are populated by knights, wizards, elves, pirates, steampunk creatures, and superheroes. The event, organized with the support of the Municipality of Vinci, attracts tens of thousands of visitors and thousands of cosplayers from all over Italy and abroad, confirming its status as a landmark for fantasy lovers in Tuscany.
The historic center is divided into numerous thematic areas, each with its own unique atmosphere and imagination. In recent editions, visitors have been able to explore worlds such as:
The Unicorn Festival program features hundreds of appointments spread across the various areas: concerts, theatrical and roaming performances, choreographed combat, street artist exhibitions, live-action role-playing games, workshops, and meetings with authors and figures from the nerd scene. The beating heart of the festival is the cosplay contest, with costume competitions that reward creativity and attention to detail. There are numerous themed market stalls where you can find fantasy crafts, comics, gadgets, illustrations, and collectible items.
While dedicated to fantasy and pop culture enthusiasts, the Unicorn Festival is also designed for families and children, with kid-friendly areas and activities. The setting in the charming Tuscan village, nestled among the Montalbano hills and the Chianti vineyards, adds a special charm to the event, blending the magic of fantasy with the authentic beauty of a town rich in history. The Municipality of Vinci and all of Tuscany experience one of their most colorful and well-attended festivals during these July days.
From July 10 to 12, 2026, Vinci hosts the twentieth edition of the Unicorn Festival, an important milestone celebrated with an even richer program. The historic center is divided into six thematic worlds: The Enchanted Fortress, The Knights' Citadel, The Steam Valley, Steel Abyss, Comics and Follies, and The City of Nightmares.
Among the novelties of the 20th anniversary, there is an Artist Alley dedicated to illustrators and creators, a celebratory exhibition that retraces twenty years of the festival through photos, costumes, and archival materials, and a new unique entrance in the form of a portal to the six worlds. Over 350 events, including concerts, shows, duels, and cosplay contests, will enliven the three days. Confirmed guests include the famous Maul Cosplay, who will serve as a contest judge and participate in workshops and fan meet-and-greets.
Three days of events spread across the six thematic worlds of Vinci's historic center:
