The premier international folklore gathering in the heart of Montecatini Terme
The "Under the Tuscan Sky" International Folklore Festival is one of the most vibrant summer events in Montecatini Terme, a renowned spa town in the Province of Pistoia, Tuscany. Organized by Blue Diamond Folklore Festivals, the festival brings together over twenty groups from various countries each year, including folk dance ensembles for adults and children, choirs, orchestras, bands, and majorette troupes. It is considered one of the most popular folklore gatherings in Italy.
The heart of the event is the grand evening performance in the center of Montecatini Terme, where an open-air stage is set up. The evening is preceded by a costumed parade through the city streets, transforming the elegant spa promenades into a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, and traditions. Each group presents an eight-minute program, accompanied by live or recorded music, offering the audience an authentic journey through the world's folk cultures.
"Under the Tuscan Sky" is not just a festival of performances, but an experience of cultural exchange and tourism. The program includes excursions to discover the Tuscan territory: visits to Florence, trips to the Cinque Terre, stops in Siena and San Gimignano, and moments dedicated to food and wine, including winery visits and tastings of Chianti wines, truffle products, and olive oil.
Montecatini Terme, with its historic spas, Art Nouveau establishments, and proximity to Florence and the Tuscan countryside, is the ideal setting for an event that focuses on bringing people together through music and dance.
The 2026 edition of "Under the Tuscan Sky" confirms the formula that has made the festival famous: performances, cultural exchange, and exploration of the region. The highlight is the evening of performances in the center of Montecatini Terme, preceded by a costumed parade of participating groups—dance ensembles, choirs, majorettes, and bands from various countries.
Each group presents an approximately 8-minute program with live or recorded music. The list of participating groups is finalized by the organization in the months preceding the event.
Montecatini Terme is easily accessible by train (Montecatini Terme-Monsummano station) on the Florence–Lucca–Viareggio line. By car, take the "Montecatini Terme" exit on the A11 Firenze–Mare motorway. The nearest airports are Florence (Peretola) and Pisa.
The evening group performances take place in the city center on an open-air stage and are open to the public. Attendance as a spectator for the parade and the performances in the square is free.
Registration is reserved for groups (minimum 15 people): dance ensembles, choirs, majorettes, and bands. Participation packages, including half-board accommodation, start from €209 per person in 3-star hotels and €305 in 4-star hotels. Information and registration via Blue Diamond Folklore Festivals.
