Terlizzi's floral Carnival, featuring a masked parade and a musical flower float
Un Fior di Carnevale is the carnival celebration that brings the streets of Terlizzi, in the Province of Bari, to life in the heart of Puglia. Created to launch a new tradition of Carnival festivities, the event aims to actively and inclusively involve the entire community: schools, associations, parishes, dance groups, and groups of friends all march together in a colorful masked procession.
The chosen theme is the flower, the identity symbol of Terlizzi, historically known as one of the Apulian capitals of floriculture. Costumes, choreography, and decorations all draw on this theme, weaving the tradition of Carnival with the deep-rooted identity of the territory.
The heart of the day is the masked group parade, which starts from Viale Roma and travels through the town center to reach Piazza Cavour, where the festivities continue with performances, music, and entertainment. Leading the procession is a scenic floral and musical float, with a DJ on board providing the soundtrack amidst confetti and streamers.
The event is organized by the Associazione Culturale Connessioni APS, led by president and artistic director Emma Ceglie, with the collaboration of Alex Cantù. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Terlizzi – Department of Culture and the Pro Loco UNPLI Terlizzi.
Free and participatory, the festival is designed to engage all age groups, from the youngest to adults. The atmosphere is that of a grand town festival, where the creativity of the masked groups blends with music and the joy of being together. For those visiting Puglia during the Carnival season, Un Fior di Carnevale is an authentic opportunity to discover Terlizzi and its folk traditions away from the more touristy circuits.
The second edition of Un Fior di Carnevale renewed the appointment with the floral Carnival of Terlizzi. The common thread was the theme of peace, with a floral float decorated as a "peace float" serving as the centerpiece of the parade, conveying a message that resonated throughout the celebration.
The masked procession started from Viale Roma, traveled through the town center, and concluded in Piazza Cavour, where music, entertainment, and confetti continued until the evening.
