The festive holiday program across Bitonto, Palombaio, and Mariotto

Magico Natale is the grand holiday program organized by the Municipality of Bitonto, a town in the Metropolitan City of Bari renowned for its stunning Romanesque cathedral and extra virgin olive oil. Every year, from December 8th until Epiphany, the historic center and main squares transform into a trail of lights, music, and traditions that involves not only Bitonto but also its districts of Palombaio and Mariotto.
The beating heart of the event is the Local Craft Market in Piazza Padre Pio, brought to life by local artisan workshops, while in Piazza Cavour, the grand tree, Santa's Village, and the Elf House—a favorite for the little ones—take center stage. The streets of the historic center host the 'Path of Traditions,' featuring tastings of local products in ancient courtyards.
The program alternates between high-quality music—gospel concerts, Christmas orchestras, and polyphonic choirs—and theatrical and comedy shows, storytelling, and creative workshops for children. There is no shortage of events rooted in Puglian folk culture, such as the Saint Lucy bonfires on December 13th and the evocative living nativity scenes set up in Palombaio and the historic center.
The festival kicks off on December 8th with the lighting of the tree and continues non-stop until January 6th, when the Re-enactment of the Three Wise Men and the arrival of the Befana bring the celebrations to a festive close. All events are completely free, designed for residents and visitors of all ages who wish to experience the Christmas atmosphere in the Bari hinterland.
Dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition of Magico Natale have not yet been published by the Municipality of Bitonto. The festival, which brings the holidays to life every year between December and Epiphany, is expected to feature its usual widespread format of craft markets, Santa's Village, concerts, and folk traditions once again. The updated calendar will be announced on the website bitontoeventi.it and official social media channels, typically in the weeks leading up to December 8th.
Bitonto is located about 18 km from Bari. By car, it is accessible via the SS96 and SS98 roads; by train, via the Ferrovie Appulo Lucane (FAL) line from Bari. The nearest airport is Bari-Palese, approximately 15 km away.
