Umbrian wine takes centre stage in Perugia's historic centre
UmbriaWine is the Umbrian Wine Festival that each September brings the best of regional wine production to the heart of Perugia. Founded in 2023, the event has grown rapidly, establishing itself as a strategic appointment for the promotion of Umbrian wine and territory.
The festival enlivens the most picturesque squares of the historic centre โ Piazza Italia, Giardini Carducci, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Matteotti โ with tasting stands featuring dozens of Umbrian wineries and hundreds of labels. The tastings, curated by sommeliers, allow visitors to discover the region's great wines, from indigenous grape varieties to the most renowned excellences.
In addition to tastings, UmbriaWine offers themed masterclasses (dessert wines, indigenous grape varieties, gourmet pairings, wine and cigars) and sensory tours in exclusive city locations, such as the Cathedral Cloister and underground Perugia. Organised by the youth association Open Mind, the festival combines wine, culture, and music, enhancing the food and wine identity of Umbria.
The fourth edition of UmbriaWine will liven up the historic centre of Perugia from September 11 to 13, 2026. Tastings will be held in the city's most beautiful squares โ Piazza Italia, Giardini Carducci, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Matteotti โ featuring Umbrian wineries.
The program includes themed masterclasses, events in exclusive locations, and live music by local artists. The main new feature for 2026 is the international opening, with the presence of foreign operators to promote Umbrian wine beyond regional borders. The event is organised by the youth association Open Mind.
The detailed program will be published on the official website umbriawine.it. New for 2026: international opening with foreign operators.
The festival takes place in the historic centre of Perugia, reachable by train (Fontivegge station) and by the Minimetrรฒ or escalators from the park-and-ride car parks.
Tastings are available by purchasing a dedicated kit; masterclasses require booking. Information and passes are available on the official website.
Book masterclasses in the most evocative locations (Cathedral Cloister, underground Perugia) in advance, as places are often limited.
