Jazz invades Terni between the Roman Amphitheatre and the squares
The Umbria Jazz Weekend in Terni is the Terni iteration of Umbria Jazz, one of the most important jazz festivals in Europe. Organized by the Fondazione di Partecipazione Umbria Jazz, the event brings the "weekend" formula that made the brand famous to Terni, in Umbria: music spread throughout the squares and streets of the center, with a dense and high-level lineup.
The festival transforms the historic center into a large open-air stage: most of the concerts take place for free in the squares and streets of the city, with excursions to symbolic places like the Marmore Falls. The heart of the evening events is the Roman Amphitheatre, which hosts the most popular shows. The featured bands are "resident," present for the entire duration of the festival, ensuring non-stop live music.
The program alternates international jazz, swing, funk, and soul, with orchestras, quartets, and dance ensembles. Alongside the concerts, the festival offers collateral events, presentations, and previews that intertwine music, storytelling, and territory.
The Terni event is a stable part of the Umbria Jazz "system," which links Terni, Perugia, and Orvieto into a single large regional musical itinerary. For the Province of Terni, it is an opportunity to welcome a large and international audience, experiencing the city in a festive and accessible atmosphere.
The 2026 edition of Umbria Jazz Weekend in Terni takes place from September 13 to 17: September 13 features two previews, and from September 14 to 17, the actual festival. Scheduled are 55 concerts, twenty-two of which are in the squares and streets of the historic center, with two musical excursions to the Marmore Falls. All distributed events are free, with resident bands present for the entire duration of the event.
Among the expected artists are Pedrito Martinez (Echoes of Africa), Fred Wesley & The New JB's, Ray Gelato & The Giants, The Swingers Orchestra, Francesco Bearzatti P.A.Z., Kaleidoscope Quartet, Funk Off, and the duo Olivia Trummer & Nicola Angelucci. The preview on September 13 includes the presentation of "Le Guide di Repubblica: Umbria Jazz" and, in Piazza Europa, a preview of the docu-series Jazzlife with the Rosario Giuliani quartet. The festival's official radio is Radio Monte Carlo.
