About Calvi Festival
A village that becomes a stage
The Calvi Festival is the main cultural event in Calvi dell'Umbria, a village in the province of Terni overlooking the valley marking the border between Umbria and Lazio. For over a month, from early August to early September, the entire historic centre becomes a widespread stage: squares, alleys, terraces, and panoramic viewpoints host shows, screenings, and talks.
A multidisciplinary programme
The festival, artistically directed by Francesco Verdinelli, mixes different genres and languages: theatre (including Greek theatre), dance, concerts, cinema, literary encounters, and exhibitions. Each edition brings prominent names from the Italian theatre and music scene to Calvi, with attention also paid to current issues such as the environment and medicine.
Cinema, music, and tradition
Among the recurring events are Calvi Cinema every Monday, featuring great films curated by the Viatores Umbro Sabini association, and moments linked to popular tradition such as the tammuriata. The event also involves the Notte del Labirinto (Night of the Labyrinth), an itinerant event in the historic centre organised by the Pro Loco (local tourism board). The Calvi Festival is a benchmark for summer cultural tourism in southern Umbria.
Calvi Festival — edition 2026
The Calvi Festival 2026 celebrates its first ten years with a special edition, running from August 1st to September 6th. Artistic direction is entrusted to Francesco Verdinelli, who presents a programme capable of blending different styles, trends, and genres. The village of Calvi dell'Umbria (TR) transforms into a widespread stage across its squares, alleys, and panoramic terraces.

- Theatre — featuring Massimo Dapporto, Pino Strabioli, and Benedetta Buccellato, plus Greek theatre
- Music — tammuriata, a tribute to Franco Battiato, and the grand finale concert with the Italian Navy Band

How to get here
Calvi dell'Umbria can be reached by car from the SS3 Flaminia or the A1 motorway (Magliano Sabina or Orte exits) and via the road to Narni. The nearest train stations are Narni-Amelia or Terni. Parking is available on the outskirts of the historic centre.
