About Umbertide Carnival

The Umbertide Carnival, in the province of Perugia, lights up the Upper Tiber Valley with its grand parade of allegorical floats. Masks, music, and entertainment liven up the town's streets, with masked balls, a carnival for children, and events in the hamlets of Pierantonio and Niccone. A popular and widespread festival involving the Pro Loco associations and local organizations of Umbertide.

The Carnival of the Upper Tiber Valley

The Umbertide Carnival is one of the most colorful winter festivals in the Upper Tiber Valley, in the province of Perugia. The heart of the event is the parade of allegorical floats, which winds through the main streets of the town, bringing with it music, masks, and entertainment. The floats, created by the local Pro Loco associations, parade from the center to Parco Ranieri, where the festivities continue with entertainment and activities.

A Widespread Celebration

The Umbertide Carnival is not just the grand float parade on Sunday: the calendar spans several days and involves the entire municipality. Events include a masked ball at the Teatro dei Riuniti, the Prehistoric Carnival for children, and events in the hamlets – "Alice in Pierantonio's Wonderland" in Pierantonio and the Harlequin Carnival in the hamlet of Niccone.

Community and Tradition

The festival is the result of the work of the Pro Loco associations and local organizations of Umbertide, with the participation of the Banda Città di Umbertide and the support of volunteers, the Red Cross, and Civil Protection. A Carnival that, alongside the spectacle of the floats, maintains the community dimension of a village festival.
