About Turin Fringe

For twelve days at the end of May, Turin transforms into a vast open-air stage: the Turin Fringe Festival brings Off-theatre, dance, contemporary circus, comedy, and performing arts to dozens of conventional and unconventional venues, including social clubs, independent theatres, planetariums, and local bars. This widespread multidisciplinary festival makes the Piedmontese capital a national and international landmark for the independent scene, featuring over 200 events and hundreds of performances throughout the city.

A widespread festival in the heart of Turin

The Turin Fringe Festival is the great celebration of independent performing arts in the Piedmontese capital. Inspired by the international Fringe model (starting with the historic Edinburgh Festival Fringe), it brings a packed schedule of theatre, dance, contemporary circus, comedy, magic, and multidisciplinary performances to Turin every year, hosted in often unconventional spaces scattered across the city.

The festival was born with a specific vocation: to provide a space for Off-theatre, research, emerging companies, and world premieres in an accessible and popular format. For a few days, Turin turns into an open-air creative laboratory, where every neighbourhood and every hall becomes a potential stage.

A multidisciplinary and itinerant festival

The strength of the Turin Fringe lies in its widespread and itinerant nature: performances multiply across more than ten venues simultaneously, from cultural clubs to independent theatres, and even unusual spaces like the Planetarium. The audience is invited to build their own itinerary, jumping from one performance to another, discovering different languages and artists from all over Italy and abroad.

  • Off-theatre and new dramaturgy, with numerous world premieres and national debuts
  • Dance, contemporary circus, and street arts
  • Comedy, cabaret, and magic
  • Multidisciplinary performances that weave together different stage languages

Turin, capital of independent theatre

With its programming, the Turin Fringe Festival has established itself as one of the most important showcases on the Italian Off scene. It involves the entire Turin area and the Piedmont region, attracting spectators, professionals, and artists, and helping to position Turin among the most vibrant Italian cities for the contemporary performing arts scene.

Each edition revolves around a theme that filters the programming, inviting companies to engage with a shared imagery. The result is a heterogeneous yet coherent calendar, capable of speaking to both theatre enthusiasts and those approaching these languages for the first time.

Turin Fringe โ€” edition 2026

The 14th edition of the Turin Fringe Festival took place from 19 to 31 May 2026 with the theme 'Metropolis โ€“ The Future to Come', inspired by the film of the same name by Fritz Lang set in 2026. Over 200 events and more than 30 shows in rotation animated over ten venues in the city, exploring rapid urban change, innovation, and new forms of sociality.

2026 Edition โ€” Metropolis. The Future to Come

The fourteenth edition of the Turin Fringe Festival chose the theme 'Metropolis โ€“ The Future to Come', inspired by the famous film by Fritz Lang set in 2026. The theme served as a filter through which the festival observed and narrated the present, reflecting on urban transformation, innovation, inequality, and new forms of sociality.

For twelve days, Turin transformed into a large, widespread stage, with over 200 events distributed across more than ten venues, including social clubs, independent theatres, and unconventional spaces.
