The Troina Ferragosto Festival is the highlight of the summer in the municipality of Troina, an ancient village perched at an altitude of over 1,100 meters in the Nebrodi Mountains, in the province of Enna, in the heart of Sicily. Every year, around August 14th and 15th, the town comes alive with activities, concerts, and events that draw in residents, returning emigrants, and visitors from across the region.
The core of the event is the free open-air concerts, hosted in the most picturesque spots of the historic center, such as Piazza Giacomo Matteotti and Piazza Falcone e Borsellino. The stage features a rotation of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, tribute bands, and musical shows designed for audiences of all ages, in a festive atmosphere that continues late into the night.
For Troina, Ferragosto is much more than just a series of concerts: it is the moment when the entire community reunites. The streets and squares of the village fill with people, families gather, and the many Troinesi living away return for their summer holidays. The festival is part of the rich Troina Summer calendar, which includes theater festivals, traveling cinema, children's shows, cabaret, sporting events, and food and wine appointments that enliven the town throughout the season.
As a spiritual and historical heart of central Sicily, Troina boasts a thousand-year history and was one of the island's first Norman counties. Ferragosto, the typically Italian mid-August celebration, takes on the form of a grand popular festival here, enhancing the historic center, supporting the local economy, and strengthening social bonds, confirming its status as one of the most vibrant summer events in the province of Enna.
In recent years, the Troina Ferragosto Festival has brought well-known names from the Italian music scene to the stage: in 2024, the main concert was headlined by Tiromancino, led by Federico Zampaglione, while the 2025 program featured the 90s show by Beat 90's and a performance by Sonny Ensabella with Queenmania, featuring special guest Katia Ricciarelli.
The 2026 Troina Ferragosto Festival is set to renew the summer appointment that brings the village of Troina, in the Nebrodi Mountains, to life every year with free open-air concerts and festive evenings around August 14th and 15th.
Official dates and the 2026 program have not yet been announced. Information regarding artists, times, and locations will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event via the official channels of the Municipality of Troina and the Enjoy Troina tourism page.
Troina is located in the heart of the Nebrodi Mountains, in the province of Enna. By car, it can be reached via the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (taking the exits toward the interior) and the SS120 state road. The nearest train station is in Catania, from where you can continue by car or regional bus.
The Ferragosto concerts are held in the squares of the historic center and are free of charge. The peak of the event is on August 14th and 15th. It is recommended to check the updated program on the official channels of the Municipality of Troina and the Enjoy Troina tourism page.
Troina is located at a high altitude: even in August, evenings can be cool, so a light jacket is recommended. Accommodation is available in the village and in the neighboring Nebrodi municipalities.
