The Christmas festival in Biancavilla, featuring lights, nativity scenes, and tradition
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Incanto di Natale is the Christmas festival that brings the streets and squares of Biancavilla, a town in the province of Catania on the slopes of Mount Etna, to life every year. Promoted by the municipal administration, the event runs throughout the holiday season, from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception to Epiphany, turning the town center into a spectacle of lights, music, and shared tradition.
The hub of the festival is Piazza Roma, where the grand Christmas tree lighting ceremony takes placeโa symbolic moment that officially kicks off the celebrations. Families and children gather around the tree, accompanied by music, entertainment, and the first festive atmospheres of the season. In the same square, Santa's Grotto opens its doors, where little ones can drop off their letters, take souvenir photos, and meet festive characters.
Among the most cherished events is the Cantata delle Novene, which brings the devotional melodies typical of the Sicilian Christmas to the town square and local schools. The festival also hosts sacred and Christmas music concerts in the town's churches, featuring local wind orchestras and polyphonic choirs. The Christmas Train, a favorite among children, travels through the decorated streets of the town throughout the festival.
A highlight of the program is the Living Nativity, set up by the guests and staff of the "Cenacolo Cristo Re" therapeutic community in Biancavilla. This intense and deeply moving performance combines the spiritual dimension of Christmas with the social value of inclusion, offering the community one of the most evocative moments of the entire festival.
Incanto di Natale is more than just a series of events; it is a way for the Biancavilla community to reconnect with its roots. Blending the sacred and the secular, entertainment and devotion, the festival tells the story of the Sicilian Christmas in its most authentic form, offering residents and visitors a rich calendar that spans the entire holiday period in the province of Catania, Sicily.
