A major youth tournament on the Tuscan coast

The Trofeo Mar Tirreno is an international youth football tournament that transforms Viareggio and the Versilia region into a hub for young football talent every spring. Supported by the municipalities of Viareggio, Pietrasanta, and Forte dei Marmi and sanctioned by the F.I.G.C. (Italian Football Federation), the tournament attracts teams from across Italy and abroad, offering young players an intense experience of sport, friendship, and fun on the Tyrrhenian coast.

The 22nd edition: May 30 to June 2, 2026

The 2026 edition, the twenty-second of the event, runs from Saturday, May 30 to Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Delegations are expected to arrive by 4:00 PM on Saturday for registration and documentation collection. At 9:30 PM, the Stadio dei Pini Torquato Bresciani in Viareggio will host the opening ceremony, featuring a parade of all participating teams, the oath, national anthems, and a musical show.

Match schedule

• Saturday, May 30: Arrival of delegations and opening ceremony (9:30 PM, Stadio dei Pini).
• Sunday, May 31: Start of qualifying matches for all categories from 9:30 AM; afternoon free for excursions along the Versilia coast.
• Monday, June 1: Continuation of qualifying matches, morning and afternoon.
• Tuesday, June 2: Finals and awards ceremonies, with Pulcini and Primi Calci matches starting at 9:30 AM and other categories from 2:30 PM.

Categories

The tournament features numerous youth categories for both boys and girls: Allievi, Giovanissimi, Esordienti, first and second-year Pulcini, and Primi Calci, as well as female categories. Teams play with varying numbers of players and match lengths depending on the age group, in a format designed to encourage participation and the athletic development of the youngest players.

Sports facilities

Matches are held at the best facilities in Viareggio and the Versilia area: the Stadio dei Pini in Viareggio, the Campo Pedonese in Marina di Pietrasanta, the Marco Polo Sport Center, and the stadiums in Pietrasanta, Seravezza, and Camaiore. Distributing matches across multiple towns allows the event to accommodate the large number of registered teams.
