About Trofeo GNR

The Trofeo GNR is the road cycling race that brings Bogogno, a small town in the Novara area of Piedmont, to life every year. Organized by A.S.D. Agrate Conturbia as part of the Controgiro amateur circuit and the NO/VCO Provincial Championship, the competition attracts cyclists of all categories to a course winding through the hills and countryside of the Upper Novara region. It is a day of sport, passion, and the traditions of Piedmontese amateur cycling, with the meeting point in the heart of the village.

A race in the heart of the Novara region

The Trofeo GNR is one of the classic amateur cycling events held in Bogogno, a town of just over a thousand inhabitants in the province of Novara, in north-eastern Piedmont. The race is part of the Controgiro circuit, a series of road events reserved for athletes registered with the FCI and recognized sports bodies, and also serves as a stage of the NO/VCO Provincial Championship (Novara and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola).

The event is organized by A.S.D. Agrate Conturbia, a historic local club that upholds the tradition of healthy and genuine amateur cycling, the same group that manages other events on the Novara calendar such as the Trofeo Il Gigante. The Trofeo GNR is a fixed spring appointment for cycling enthusiasts in Upper Piedmont.

The course through the hills

The competition takes place on a circuit of approximately 32 kilometers to be covered twice, for a total of about 64 km crossing the rolling hills and countryside surrounding Bogogno, an area also known for its renowned golf courses. The track, challenging yet suitable for various amateur categories, puts the legs and tactics of the participants to the test.

A day of sport and community

More than just a race, the Trofeo GNR is a celebration for the local cycling community. The meeting point is in the town center at the Ristorante Cristal on Via Roma, which serves as the start and finish line for the event. Starts are staggered by category throughout the afternoon, giving everyone, from the youngest to the veterans, the chance to compete on the same course.

For the public, it is an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of provincial cycling up close: the colorful passing of the peloton, the cheering along the roads, and the conviviality typical of amateur races in Piedmont. It is an event that captures the passion for cycling in this corner of the Novara province.
