The Carnival of Triggiano in Piazza Vittorio Veneto
Triggiano in Maschera is the Carnival festival that paints Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the main square of Triggianoโa bustling town just southeast of Bari in the Metropolitan City of Bari, Pugliaโwith vibrant colors. For an entire afternoon, the square transforms into a large open-air stage dedicated to families, children, and anyone who loves to dress up and soak in the most playful atmosphere of the year.
The event focuses on entertainment and public participation. The program features a lively costume parade, appearances by mascots and characters like the Transformers, comedy shows, and entertainment designed for all ages. The traditional pentolaccia (a local version of the piรฑata) is a must-have, bringing both young and old together in the spirit of the festival.
The day alternates between entertainment and live music: among the most anticipated moments are the performance by the Cugini di Montagna and the closing concert, which keep the energy high until the evening. The festival concludes with the awards ceremony for the best costumes and groups, an event that sparks the creativity of participants every year and provides a joyful finale.
Like many Carnival events in the Bari area, Triggiano in Maschera is part of the long-standing tradition of Puglian Carnival street festivals, where costumes, music, and the sharing of public space renew a deeply rooted collective ritual. It is a simple, joyful opportunity to experience the town center, meet with neighbors, and rediscover the pleasure of a shared celebration.
The 2026 edition of Triggiano in Maschera brought Piazza Vittorio Veneto to life on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM (postponed from Sunday, February 15 due to bad weather). The afternoon combined a costume parade, entertainment with mascots and Transformers, comedy shows, and live music, with the traditional pentolaccia and the awards ceremony for the best costumes closing the festival.
