About Borgo Stregato

Borgo Stregato is the Halloween festival that transforms the historic center of Putignano, in the province of Bari, into a village haunted by zombies, vampires, witches, and ghosts every late October. Featuring street performances, light installations, street food, children's workshops, and papier-mâché decorations, the event blends Halloween chills with the carnival spirit and artisanal heritage of this Apulian town. Free admission.

Borgo Stregato: Halloween in the ancient heart of Putignano

Borgo Stregato is the event that turns the historic center of Putignano into a fully-fledged haunted village during the nights surrounding Halloween. The alleys, small squares, and courtyards of this town in the province of Bari, Puglia, are filled with zombies, vampires, witches, and ghosts, welcoming and spooking visitors along a free-entry route designed for all ages.

A labyrinth of dark atmospheres

The core of the event is its immersive scenography: the streets of the old town become a maze of gloomy settings, with costumed actors, theatrical performances, and roaming shows that surprise you at every corner. The light installations, themed decorations, and balconies adorned by the residents themselves create a captivating itinerary, brought to life by eccentric artists, musicians, and DJs.

A distinctive feature of Borgo Stregato is its strong bond with the identity of Putignano, a city famous for its papier-mâché and its legendary Carnival: many of the decorations and installations are born from the same papier-mâché artistry that makes the Putignano Carnival famous, often crafted from recycled, sustainable materials.

Flavors, workshops, and family fun

Beyond the gates of the village, you will find the food areas: street food, sweets, and specialties linked to the Apulian autumn, to be savored along a decorated path. There is no shortage of craft markets, face-painting stations, and creative workshops for children and teenagers, making the event suitable for the whole family.

An event by the Municipality of Putignano

The event is organized by the Trullando Cultural Association and takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Putignano and the Putignano Carnival Foundation. Considered a one-of-a-kind event in Puglia, Borgo Stregato is now a well-established tradition in the city's autumn calendar, attracting visitors from all over the province of Bari and beyond.
