The major FAI flower and nursery market at Castello di Masino
Every year in early May, the Castello e Parco di Masino in Caravino, located in the Canavese area near Turin, opens its historic gardens for Tre Giorni per il Giardino, the major flower and nursery market organized by FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano. Established in the early 1990s, the event has become one of Italy's most anticipated and prestigious green-themed appointments, attracting enthusiasts, collectors, and curious visitors from all over Piedmont and beyond.
The absolute stars of the event are the over one hundred Italian and international nurserymen—often highly specialized small-scale producers—who exhibit collections of antique roses, perennials, aromatic herbs, vegetables, fruit trees, and rare species hard to find elsewhere. Alongside traditional offerings, gardeners present innovative solutions and original practices that blend beauty with sustainability in green care.
Tre Giorni per il Giardino is more than just a plant market: every edition offers a rich program of lectures, meetings, and workshops with industry experts, landscape architects, botanists, and agronomists. There are also advisory desks where the public can seek advice on gardening, plant diseases, and landscape design. Each edition revolves around a specific theme: in 2026, the guiding thread is "Roots", understood in its dual natural and social meaning—a bond with the earth and with communities.
The event takes place in the Municipality of Caravino, in the Province of Turin, Piedmont, within the romantic park of Castello di Masino, the ancient residence of the Valperga di Masino counts and now a FAI property. The panorama over the Canavese plain and the Alpine arc provides the backdrop for an event that combines botanical passion, landscape culture, and environmental protection, perfect for spending a spring day in the open air.
Castello di Masino is located at Via al Castello 1 in Caravino (TO), in the Canavese region. By car: A5 Turin-Aosta motorway, take the Albiano d'Ivrea exit, then follow signs for the castle. By train: Ivrea station, then continue by car or taxi (approx. 15 km).
The event is generally open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Full-price ticket approx. 12 euros; reduced entry at 5 euros for FAI members, youths aged 6-18, students aged 19-25, and people with disabilities. Free for children aged 0-5 and residents of the Municipality of Caravino.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking the park trails and bringing containers or a cart to transport purchased plants.
