Great chamber music directed by Angela Hewitt
The Trasimeno Music Festival is an international classical and chamber music festival that takes place every year at the end of June in the Lake Trasimeno area, in the province of Perugia. Founded in 2005, it is entirely conceived and directed by the Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt, one of the world's most esteemed interpreters of Bach's repertoire, who is also its artistic soul and main performer on stage.
The concerts take place in venues steeped in history and charm: in Perugia, at the Auditorium di San Francesco al Prato, the Teatro del Pavone, and the Basilica di San Pietro; in the territory of Magione, at the Castello dei Cavalieri di Malta and in the main square of the lakeside village of San Savino, overlooking Trasimeno. It is precisely the encounter between top-level music and monumental architecture that makes this festival unique.
The program alternates symphonic concerts, chamber music, piano recitals, and in-depth sessions such as masterclasses and conversations. Every year, internationally renowned soloists, ensembles, and conductors revolve around Angela Hewitt. Despite being linked to the identity of Trasimeno, the festival has earned a reputation over the years that transcends regional borders, attracting enthusiasts and music lovers from all over Europe to the heart of Umbria.
The 2026 edition, the 21st, takes place from June 23rd to 30th with a pre-festival concert on June 23rd in San Savino (Magione) and a program of concerts between Perugia and Magione. On stage, founder and director Angela Hewitt, accompanied by international soloists, ensembles, and conductors. Among the guests is the composer and conductor Sir John Rutter.
