About Trasimeno Blues

In July, the blues takes over Lake Trasimeno. The Trasimeno Blues Festival is a traveling review that crosses the villages of the lake — from Castiglione del Lago to Passignano, Tuoro, Panicale, and beyond — bringing international artists of blues, soul, and roots music to its stages. Sunset concerts, breathtaking scenery, and an atmosphere that has made this festival one of the longest-running of its kind in Italy.

The blues on the lake

The Trasimeno Blues Festival is one of the historic blues festivals in Italy, active since the late eighties. Its formula is that of a traveling festival: the concerts are not concentrated in a single city but touch different municipalities in the Lake Trasimeno area, in the province of Perugia, including Castiglione del Lago, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Tuoro, Panicale, Città della Pieve, Paciano, and Magione.

A stage between history and nature

The festival's strength also lies in its locations: stages are set up in squares, fortresses, and viewpoints overlooking the lake. In Castiglione del Lago, the main concert is held at the Rocca Medievale del Leone, a fortress overlooking Lake Trasimeno that offers a spectacular setting for the music. The sunset over the lake often accompanies the start of the concerts, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

Great names in blues

Over the years, Trasimeno Blues has hosted major international blues, soul, and roots music artists, alternating established stars with new talents. The programming, organized by Onda Road based in Passignano sul Trasimeno, ranges from electric and acoustic blues to world music and fusions, confirming the festival as a benchmark for genre enthusiasts in Umbria and Italy.

Trasimeno Blues — edition 2026

The 2026 Trasimeno Blues Festival takes place from July 18th to 26th on stages around Lake Trasimeno, featuring around ten concerts spread across several municipalities. This traveling festival kicks off on Saturday, July 18th, in Passignano sul Trasimeno with Lakeetra Knowles, continuing through Panicale, Castiglione del Lago, and Spina di Marsciano. Highlights include performances by the Treves Blues Band (July 24th) and Vieux Farka Touré (July 25th) at the Medieval Fortress of Castiglione del Lago.

The 2026 edition of the Trasimeno Blues Festival runs from July 18th to 26th, maintaining its signature traveling format with about ten concerts held throughout the Lake Trasimeno area. The festival opens on Saturday, July 18th, in Passignano sul Trasimeno at Parco del Pidocchietto, featuring a performance by Lakeetra Knowles.

The heart of the festival is in Castiglione del Lago, where the Medieval Fortress of the Lion will host the Treves Blues Band (Friday, July 24th) and Vieux Farka Touré (Saturday, July 25th). The lineup is completed by events in Panicale, Piazza Mazzini, and the Darsena in Castiglione del Lago, with the grand finale in Spina di Marsciano. Most concerts are free to attend; tickets are required for the shows at the Medieval Fortress.
