The festa della polenta concia among the woods of Tzendelabò, in the Walser municipality of Gaby
In Gaby, a municipality with a Walser language and culture in the lower Valle del Lys, in the Aosta Valley, the Tradizionale Polentata is one of the community's most cherished summer events. Organized by the Pro Loco of Gaby, it takes place every year between late July and early August, bringing together residents and holidaymakers around a dish that tells the story of the mountains.
The heart of the festival is the unique dish: polenta and polenta concia, the Aosta Valley version enriched with butter and Fontina cheese, served with sausage, stew, and cheese, with wine or water. A hearty recipe, designed for mountain days, which captures the authentic flavor of Alpine cuisine.
The event is held in the green area of the pine forest at Tzendelabò, a shaded and cool spot perfect for a day outdoors. Between tastings, there is no shortage of conviviality and the relaxed atmosphere typical of Aosta Valley village festivals.
Entirely managed by Pro Loco volunteers, the Polentata is above all a moment of gathering: an opportunity to rediscover the gastronomic traditions of Gaby and to experience the genuine hospitality of the Valle del Lys.
The Tradizionale Polentata di Gaby renews its early August appointment in 2026. In the green area of the pine forest at Tzendelabò, the Pro Loco of Gaby offers the unique dish of polenta and polenta concia with sausage, stew, and cheese, accompanied by a day of outdoor celebration. Gaby is in the lower Valle del Lys. By car: A5 motorway, Pont-Saint-Martin exit, then SR44 towards Gressoney; the Tzendelabò area is reachable from the main village. By train: Pont-Saint-Martin station and local bus service.
