The food and wine stroll through the streets of Calliano Monferrato
Tra Piazze e Cortili is one of the most beloved food and wine events in Calliano Monferrato, a small hillside village in the province of Asti, nestled in the UNESCO-listed Monferrato region of Piedmont. For an entire weekend, usually spanning late May and early June, the squares, alleys, and especially the characteristic private courtyards of the historic center open to the public, transforming into a large open-air culinary trail.
The heart of the event is the food and wine stroll: visitors walk through the village streets and, from stop to stop, discover stalls set up by the Pro Loco and local associations from the surrounding area. You can enjoy traditional Piedmontese and Monferrato dishes, paired with prestigious wines from local wineries, craft beer, spirits, and vermouth. In recent years, the selection has expanded with the participation of producers and Pro Loco groups from neighboring towns, such as Valenzani and Settime, and the return of historic local entities like Mazzetti d'Altavilla.
Beyond the gastronomy, Tra Piazze e Cortili offers live music, bands, DJs, and entertainment designed for all ages, keeping the evenings lively until late at night. This is the formula that has ensured the event's success: a convivial experience that combines the discovery of good food and wine with the beauty of the village's hidden courtyards, all in an authentic local atmosphere.
Founded in 2010 thanks to the efforts of the Pro Loco of Calliano Monferrato and the Municipality, the event has grown edition after edition, now attracting over 4,000 visitors and involving more than a hundred volunteers. Today, it is one of the flagship events in the Asti province calendar and an important showcase for promoting the Monferrato territory.
The fourteenth edition of Tra Piazze e Cortili was held in Calliano Monferrato over the weekend of May 29-31, 2026, confirming the well-tested formula of the food and wine stroll through the streets and courtyards of the village. The local Asti press announced the start of the event for Friday, May 29, with activities continuing throughout the weekend.
As every year, the public was able to walk through the historic center, stop by stop, enjoying traditional dishes offered by the Pro Loco and local associations, wines from Monferrato wineries, craft beer, and spirits, all accompanied by live music and entertainment for all ages.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the complete list of food stalls, wineries, and evening musical events, is published by the Pro Loco of Calliano Monferrato in the days leading up to the event on the official website and the dedicated Facebook page.
The usual structure of the event includes:
