A multi-stage trail running race and village festival in the Valle dei Laghi
Tourlaghi is a multi-stage running race held every spring in the Valle dei Laghi, with its logistics base in the village of Fraveggio, part of the municipality of Vallelaghi in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Established in 2008 and included in the FIDAL National Mountain Running Calendar, the event attracts hundreds of athletes from all over Italy every year, drawn by a course that blends sport with scenery: seven lakes, hills, pine forests, meadows, and rocky trails provide the backdrop for four days of racing.
The format is that of a stage race: four closely-spaced trials, each with different start and finish points, touching iconic lakes in the valley such as Toblino, Santa Massenza, and the Laghi di Terlago, as well as the historic centers of Vezzano, Ciago, Lon, Covelo, and Terlago. Distances range from short sprints of a few kilometers to stages over ten kilometers, with challenging elevation gains that test both runners and trail athletes. The final ranking rewards the best cumulative time across all four stages. Alongside the main races, the Tourlaghi Baby Run is held, dedicated to youth categories and families.
Tourlaghi is about more than just sport. During the same days, Fraveggio hosts the Sagra dei Portoni, one of the oldest village festivals in the area. During the event, the portoni (large wooden doors) of cellars and stables are opened, transforming them into meeting points with food stalls, traditional dishes, craft displays, exhibitions, and musical entertainment. It is the moment when the community of Fraveggio welcomes athletes and visitors, offering an authentic glimpse into rural life in the Valle dei Laghi.
Organized by ASD G.S. Fraveggio, the Tourlaghi & Sagra dei Portoni has become over the years a hallmark event for the municipality of Vallelaghi and the entire Valle dei Laghi, successfully combining a passion for mountain running with the promotion of the territory, its lakes, and its farming traditions.
The nineteenth edition of the Tourlaghi was held from May 30th to June 2nd, 2026, based in Fraveggio in the municipality of Vallelaghi. The event, included in the FIDAL National Mountain Running Calendar, attracted over 300 athletes per stage. During the same days, the village hosted the Sagra dei Portoni, with open cellars and stables, food stalls, music, and exhibitions.
During the race days, the Sagra dei Portoni took place in Fraveggio with food stalls, traditional cuisine, music, and exhibitions. The Tourlaghi Baby Run for youth categories was also on the program.
