A night of music, DJ sets, and late-night shopping on the Pomezia coast
The Torvaianica White Night has become a signature event of the summer in the Municipality of Pomezia, in the Lazio region, just over thirty kilometers from Rome. For one night, the heart of this seaside town clears of cars and fills with music, lights, and people: shops, bars, and restaurants stay open until 2:00 AM, while DJ sets and roving performers take over the streets and the promenade. It is a classic Italian "notte bianca," but with a unique twist: the sea is just a few meters away, with the Tyrrhenian breeze accompanying the entire evening.
The event occupies the heart of Torvaianica, with a pedestrian zone centered around Piazza Ungheria that extends to Viale Spagna, Viale Francia, parts of Via Danimarca, and the town's two historic promenades, Lungomare delle Meduse and Lungomare delle Sirene. These areas are equipped with stages, stalls, and music points, allowing the public to stroll from one attraction to the next without ever needing a car.
While the program changes every year, the formula remains consistent: live music or DJ sets at key locations, street artists, dancers, and roving performers moving along the pedestrian route. In recent editions, the municipal administration has focused heavily on DJ sets and contemporary musical styles to engage younger audiences without losing the event's popular, family-friendly character. Local sports associations also contribute with demonstrations, highlighting sport as a tool for community and inclusion.
Beyond the music, the White Night is a culinary experience. Waterfront restaurants stay open late, and stalls along the route offer street food, local Lazio specialties, and regional products. Naturally, fish and seafood take center stage in a town defined by its beaches and seaside resorts.
Originally launched as a commercial initiative to boost the district, the White Night has steadily established itself as one of the most popular events in the Estate Pometina calendar—a summer festival promoted by the City of Pomezia that hosts dozens of free events between the main town and the coast from July to September. Mayor Veronica Felici has described it as "a symbolic event of our summer, a moment the city looks forward to and that grows every year" thanks to the participation of citizens, merchants, and associations.
Torvaianica is the seaside district of Pomezia: a long stretch of sandy beaches between Ostia and Anzio, very popular with Romans during summer weekends. Behind the coastline lies a territory rich in history, from the archaeological site of Lavinium to the coastal towers, while to the south, protected natural areas stretch toward the mouth of the Tiber River and the Decima-Malafede reserve. Attending the White Night is a great excuse to discover this lesser-known part of the Lazio coast.
The event is promoted and organized by the City of Pomezia, with the involvement of trade associations, Torvaianica merchants, and local sports and cultural groups. The evening is regulated by a municipal ordinance governing traffic, road closures, and security measures, with barriers and specialized staff at all main access points.
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Torvaianica hosted its White Night from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM. For this edition, the City of Pomezia chose a more music-oriented formula, built around DJ sets, designed to engage younger audiences through contemporary sounds while still welcoming families and citizens of all ages.
The event animated Piazza Ungheria, Lungomare delle Meduse, Lungomare delle Sirene, Viale Spagna, Viale Francia, and part of Via Danimarca, all areas closed to traffic for the occasion. Shops remained open until 2:00 AM, with stalls and musical initiatives distributed along the pedestrian route.
There was also space for sports: local sports associations participated with demonstrations and short performances, supporting the role of sport as a tool for community, inclusion, and well-being. "The White Night has become a symbolic event of our summer, a moment the city looks forward to and that grows every year," declared Mayor Veronica Felici.
The full lineup of artists and performance times was not released in detail by the organizers.
By car from Rome: take Via Cristoforo Colombo to Ostia, then the coastal road south; or take the Pontina (SS148) to the Pomezia exit and continue toward Torvaianica. The center is pedestrianized from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM: it is best to park in the outskirts of the district and walk to Piazza Ungheria.
Cotral buses connect Torvaianica with Anzio, Ostia, and Pomezia. On the evening of the event, bus lines are diverted to Via Siviglia, Via Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, and Via Danimarca: check for temporary stops before traveling.
Access to the event is free. You only pay for what you consume at stalls, bars, and restaurants.
Wear comfortable shoes for walking along the promenade, bring a light sweater for the late hours, and if traveling with children, arrive early in the evening while the crowds are still manageable.
