The Summer Rock Festival - Abruzzese Arrosticino Festival is one of the most popular summer events in Torvaianica, a seaside district of the municipality of Pomezia, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio). For several nights in July, the event takes over the large Piazzale Kennedy, just a few steps from the promenade, blending two simple but effective ingredients: live music and popular Abruzzese cuisine.

A meeting between Abruzzo and the Pomezia coast

The idea comes from the L'Abruzzo incontra Roma association, which brings the ritual of the arrosticino to the Lazio coast: sheep meat skewers grilled on traditional long, narrow charcoal burners, served hot and continuously. Around the stands, a food and wine selection blends Abruzzo with local flavors: porchetta di Ariccia, cheeses, Castelli Romani wines, draft beer, and traditional desserts. It is a formula that immediately found its audience, consisting of families, vacationers, and residents of the coast between Pomezia, Ardea, and Anzio.

The stage: rock, tribute bands, and dance nights

The musical aspect gives the event its name. On the stage set up in the square, tribute bands, cover groups dedicated to the nineties, local rock bands, and Italian pop music guests take turns, with evenings continuing until late at night with DJ sets and dancing. Concerts generally start late in the evening when the temperature on the coast becomes more pleasant, while food stands open in the early afternoon or at sunset.

An event of the Estate Pometina

The festival is part of the Estate Pometina program, the summer calendar promoted by the Municipality of Pomezia, which enlivens Pomezia and Torvaianica from July to September with concerts, open-air cinema, white nights, patronal feasts, and markets. Piazzale Kennedy and Piazza Ungheria are the two main hubs of the seaside programming: the former hosts major events with stands and a stage, the latter hosts shows and evening markets.
