The grand festival dedicated to Cremona's symbolic sweet treat
The Torrone Festival is the event that, every autumn, transforms the historic center of Cremona, in Lombardy, into a grand celebration of torrone, the sweet treat that is both a symbol and identity of the city. According to tradition, torrone was born in Cremona in 1441, during the wedding banquet of Bianca Maria Visconti and Francesco Sforza: its shape is said to have recalled the Torrazzo, the city's famous bell tower. From this legend comes a festival that intertwines gastronomy, history, and entertainment.
During the event, organized by SGP Grandi Eventi and promoted by the Municipality of Cremona and the Chamber of Commerce, the city streets fill with stands from the best producers, giant torrone constructions, guided tastings, interactive workshops, and show cooking. The prestigious Torrone d'Oro award celebrates personalities from the world of culture and entertainment, while tourist itineraries and food and wine pairings in the city center restaurants complete the offering.
The highlight of the festival is the spectacular historical re-enactment of the wedding between Bianca Maria Visconti and Francesco Sforza, with a costume parade, participants, ladies, and knights who transport the city back to the atmosphere of the 15th century. It is one of the most beloved events, capable of combining the charm of Renaissance history with the sweetness of torrone, in a crescendo that culminates in the grand finale of the festival.
For the Municipality of Cremona and the Province, the Torrone Festival is one of the most important events of the year, attracting visitors from all over Italy and promoting an excellent product deeply linked to the identity of the territory.
The 29th edition of the Torrone Festival is held in Cremona from November 7 to 22, 2026, and for the first time extends over 16 days spread across three consecutive weekends, with weekday programming also available. A "distributed" format designed to give visitors more time to experience the city.
The historic center hosts stands from producers, giant torrone constructions, sensory tastings, guided tours, and interactive workshops. The Torrone d'Oro award returns, along with tourist itineraries, food and wine pairings in restaurants, and the spectacular re-enactment of the wedding between Bianca Maria Visconti and Francesco Sforza, with the usual grand finale. The event is organized by SGP Grandi Eventi.
