Theatre, music, and art for children in the park of Villa Macrina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Torre in Fiaba is a festival organized by the Municipality of Torre del Greco, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, specifically for children and their families. It is more than just a series of shows; it is a carefully curated experience designed to introduce young ones to theatre, music, and the visual arts through the universal language of fairy tales. The successful format alternates between creative workshops, interactive concerts, and full-scale theatrical performances, all held on the same afternoon in one location.
The main venue is Villa Macrina, a historic Vesuvius-style residence at Via Nazionale 601, named after the Marchesa Macrina Palomba, the family's last owner. Today, the building houses the «Enzo Aprea» Municipal Library, which holds nearly 18,000 volumes, including over 2,000 rare books. The outdoor garden, complete with benches and a playground, regularly hosts cultural events and public initiatives. From the villa, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Vesuvius, which is particularly breathtaking at sunset. In some editions, the festival has also extended to the nearby Parco Salvo D'Acquisto.
In recent years, the schedule has begun in the late afternoon with introductory activities, concluding with a theatrical performance. The villa's grounds are divided into thematic areas:
The age ranges suggested by the organizers are intentionally flexible: as the program notes remind us, art, music, and theatre have no age limit.
The event was born from an initiative of the municipal administration led by Mayor Luigi Mennella and is managed by the Municipality's Culture Department, with funding from the Metropolitan City of Naples. Production is entrusted to the «La Fabbrica del divertimento» association, while the performances are provided by companies specializing in children's theatre. Recent editions have featured troupes such as «Il teatro nel baule», «I Teatrini» from Naples, the «Guardiani dell'Oca» from Chieti, and the Teatro Verde from Rome.
Torre in Fiaba is officially included in the 2026 cultural program set by the Municipality of Torre del Greco, which schedules it at Villa Macrina during the summer season, alongside events such as the Festa dei Quattro Altari (June 12-14), TorRidendo, and the Voci d'Autunno Jazz Festival. At present, the exact calendar and performance schedule have not yet been released; it is advisable to follow the Municipality's official channels for dates and program updates as they become available.
Torre del Greco is one of the most populous towns in the province of Naples and the entire Campania region, world-renowned for its coral and cameo craftsmanship. A free festival dedicated to childhood here carries a value that goes beyond mere entertainment: it brings children's theatre into a public villa, restores a green space to families, and creates a cultural habit that, in the organizers' intentions, fills a gap in live performance education. For those visiting the Vesuvius area in summer, it is also an opportunity to discover a less touristy, more authentic side of the coast between Naples and Pompeii.
The festival appears in the list of events for the 2026 cultural program of the Municipality of Torre del Greco, where it is described as an event dedicated to children in the spaces of Villa Macrina, scheduled for the summer season. The same document includes the Festa dei Quattro Altari (June 12-14), the comedy festival TorRidendo, the Voci d'Autunno Jazz Festival in September, and the Christmas program Natale a Torre.
Precise dates, times, show titles, and participating companies have not yet been announced. Those wishing to attend can monitor the Municipality's official channels and the local Vesuvius press, which in previous years have announced the program a few weeks in advance.
Villa Macrina, Via Nazionale 601, 80059 Torre del Greco (NA). In some editions, events have also been held at Parco Salvo D'Acquisto.
