Three evenings of wine, flavor, and music in the heart of Abruzzo
The Tollo Wine Festival is a summer celebration dedicated to wine and conviviality, held in the historic center of Tollo, a small winemaking town in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. The heart of the event is Piazza Caduti di Nassiriya, which transforms for three consecutive July evenings into a large open-air lounge featuring tasting stalls, food stands, and stages for live music. The festivities begin at 8:00 PM.
The festival was created to showcase the rich oenological tradition of Tollo, a village where viticulture has always been the cornerstone of the local economy and identity. In the glass, you will find the region's finest: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Pecorino, and Passerina, alongside the labels of the Tullum DOCG, one of Italy's smallest denominations of origin. The tastings feature local producers, including Cantina Tollo, Feudo Antico, Vigneti Radica, and the Cooperativa Agricola Coltivatori Diretti di Tollo.
Alongside the wine, the stands offer the flavors of Abruzzese cuisine: the essential arrosticini (sheep skewers), traditional rustic dishes, and seafood specialties, striking a balance between the inland and the coast that is a hallmark of Chieti's gastronomy. Tastings are managed via a practical kit including a glass and a neck pouch, allowing guests to move freely between the stalls in the square.
Each evening is accompanied by live music and entertainment, with concerts and DJ sets enlivening the square until late. The Tollo Wine Festival thus blends wine culture with the pleasure of socializing, offering an experience that engages enthusiasts, curious visitors, and families in a truly authentic festive atmosphere.
The event is promoted by the Pro Loco Tolle Me APS in collaboration with the Municipality of Tollo, Cantina Tollo, and the Tullum DOCG Consortium, and is part of the town's wider summer calendar. Over the years, it has become a benchmark for wine tourism in Abruzzo and for the promotion of local wines.
The Tollo Wine Festival 2026 returns for its third edition from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12, 2026, confirming Piazza Caduti di Nassiriya as the beating heart of the event in the center of Tollo, in the province of Chieti.
