A re-enactment of traditional grain threshing in the heart of Ciociaria
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Torrice Threshing Festival is one of the most deep-rooted rural re-enactments in the Ciociaria area. Every summer, between late July and early August, this town in the province of Frosinone dedicates an entire week to the memory of field work: the harvesting and threshing of grain, which for generations marked the lives of families in this corner of Lazio. More than just a local fair, it is a true celebration of identity—reaching its thirtieth edition in 2022—that combines live demonstrations, traditional gastronomy, music, and conviviality.
The heart of the event is the historical re-enactment of threshing according to the ancient Ciociaria practice, from the beating of the grain to the production of flour. An exhibition of historical and modern agricultural vehicles is set up on-site: hot-bulb tractors, threshing machines from days gone by, and state-of-the-art equipment stand side-by-side, allowing the public to witness threshing operations just as they were performed on the threshing floors of the Ciociaria countryside.
As in any self-respecting rural festival, gastronomy plays a leading role. The food stalls offer a different traditional Ciociara dish every night, accompanied by other local specialties: a simple and genuine way to rediscover the flavors of 'cucina povera' (peasant cooking), born from the very grain, flour, and earth products that the festival celebrates.
The evenings are enlivened by great music and games designed for children, in a village festival atmosphere that engages all generations. For several years, the event has also hosted a camper rally: a dedicated area welcomes crews for the entire duration of the event, a sign of a festival that also pays close attention to itinerant tourism and visitors arriving from outside the province.
Torrice is a small hillside town a few kilometers from Frosinone, in the heart of Ciociaria. The festival, supported by the local community in the Municipality of Torrice, is also an opportunity to discover the village, its panoramic views over the valley, and the hospitality typical of this part of the Lazio Region, where agricultural traditions remain a living and shared heritage.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet officially announced the dates for the 2026 edition of the Torrice Threshing Festival. The event traditionally takes place between late July and the first days of August: in 2025, the festival animated the town from July 31st to August 6th.
When the 2026 edition is confirmed, the public will be able to find the ingredients that have made the festival famous in the province of Frosinone: the re-enactment of grain threshing with vintage and modern agricultural machinery, gastronomic evenings dedicated to traditional Ciociara dishes, music, games for the little ones, and the camper rally. It is recommended to follow the festival's social media channels for official updates.
Torrice can be reached by car via the A1 motorway (Frosinone exit), continuing for a few kilometers towards the town. The nearest train station is Frosinone, on the Rome–Cassino line, from which regional COTRAL buses depart.
During the festival, a camper rally is traditionally organized, with a dedicated area that welcomes crews for the entire duration of the event.
Access to the festival area is traditionally free: you only pay for what you consume at the food stalls.
