The week that transforms Cesenatico into the Italian capital of street dance
Every July, the Municipality of Cesenatico, in the province of Forlì-Cesena (Emilia-Romagna), transforms for an entire week into the Italian capital of street dance. THE WEEK – International Street Dance Festival is considered Italy's longest-running urban dance festival: born in the mid-2000s, it has become a benchmark event for lovers of Hip Hop and all its variations, capable of attracting thousands of dancers and enthusiasts from every corner of the globe.
The heart of the festival lies in the over 40 dance workshops held throughout the week, taught by internationally renowned instructors and choreographers. The classes cover practically all styles of street culture: Hip Hop, House, Popping, Locking, Waacking, Dancehall, as well as Choreo, Combo, Heels, and Pro Classes for more advanced dancers. From beginners to professionals, everyone finds a tailored path to grow in direct contact with the names shaping the global scene.
The evenings of THE WEEK are marked by the contests that have made the history of Italian street dance. The two iconic events are Street Fighters and Give It Up, battles that have pitted the best dancers against each other for years in 1vs1 and crew challenges, with international juries and a highly enthusiastic audience. Alongside them, there are competitions dedicated to Breaking, Heels, and Dancehall, for a week of non-stop dancing.
The festival also caters to the younger generation with The Weekidz, a project entirely dedicated to under-13s, combining dance lessons, beach activities, parties, and dedicated assistance. When the sun sets, the energy shifts to THE WEEK's parties and events, with beach settings, sound systems, and dance floors continuing late into the night, in full Romagna summer atmosphere.
Activities take place in various locations throughout the city, with the central Piazza Spose dei Marinai serving as the main stage for showcases and battles. Over the years, THE WEEK has attracted over 12,000 people from more than 35 different countries, confirming its status as one of the most important European events for Hip Hop culture. For a week, the lively seaside town of Cesenatico becomes the meeting point for a global community that speaks the universal language of dance.
The 2026 edition of THE WEEK, the 21st, marks a historic milestone for the festival: it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the two contests that made it famous, Street Fighters and Give It Up. From July 12 to 19, 2026, Cesenatico hosts over 40 workshops, battles, evening events, and parties that characterize Italy's longest-running urban dance event.
Over 40 classes with internationally renowned instructors and choreographers, spread throughout the week. Styles on the program: Hip Hop, House, Popping, Locking, Waacking, Dancehall, as well as Choreo, Combo, Heels, and Pro Classes. Workshop registrations are open.
