A night dedicated to love amidst the mysterious streets of the Valle Cervo village
The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is one of the most anticipated events in the summer calendar for Italy's small historic towns. Promoted by the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy association, it brings together over two hundred villages each year that, on the same evening, open their squares, alleys, and historic buildings to celebrate love with a program of cultural, musical, and gastronomic events. In Rosazza, nestled in the heart of the upper Valle Cervo in the province of Biella, Piedmont, the event takes on a special charm thanks to the village's unique atmosphere.
Rosazza is one of the smallest and most fascinating towns in the Biella area, known as the "village of mystery" due to the numerous symbols linked to Freemasonry and esotericism that adorn its tall, narrow houses, fountains, and monuments. This singular architectural heritage, commissioned in the 19th century by Senator Federico Rosazza Pistolet, provides a suggestive backdrop for an evening where soft lights, torches, and candles transform the historic center into a fairytale setting. During the Romantic Night, the village streets become the ideal stage for those seeking an intimate and poetic experience.
The program in Rosazza weaves together words and music: a stroll through the town center accompanied by poetry readings from local authors and the guitar melodies of Gabriele Ferro. The evening continues with classical music and melodies from around the world, building to a crescendo that culminates in the long-awaited midnight kiss, the symbolic gesture shared by all participating villages. There is also a playful moment of complicity with a contest dedicated to the most romantic couple, offering the chance to capture their kiss on camera.
The Romantic Night was established in 2016 and traditionally takes place around the summer solstice, the shortest night of the year. Each edition features a common theme shared by all the villages: torches, soft lighting, live music, street performances, tastings of local products, and art installations create the atmosphere, while the midnight kiss ideally unites dozens of squares from north to south. Participating in the evening in Rosazza means discovering an authentic, hidden gem far from the crowded tourist paths, experiencing the enchantment of the Biella mountains at dusk.
Rosazza is located in the upper Valle Cervo, about 30 km from Biella. By car, you can reach it by traveling up the valley along the SP100; the village sits at an altitude of about 900 meters. The nearest train station is Biella San Paolo, from which you can continue by car or local transport.
The event takes place in the evening, with the program starting at 8:30 PM and culminating in the midnight kiss.
As it is a mountain village, it is advisable to bring a warm layer for the evening. Check the updated program on the Rosazza municipal website and the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy portal before you travel.
