About Terrasole Festival

The Terrasole Festival is a high-altitude music series held in Limone Piemonte, in the province of Cuneo. Now in its second year, it features folk and singer-songwriter concerts performed on a scenic floating raft at Lake Terrasole, at an altitude of 1,776 meters. It is a dialogue between Occitan roots and contemporary influences, under the artistic direction of Roberto Avena and Chiara Cesano. Admission is free; access to the lake is via the Bottero gondola or the Cabanaira chairlift.

A festival suspended in the Maritime Alps

The Terrasole Festival is one of the most evocative music series in Piedmont: concerts are staged on a floating raft set up on Lake Terrasole, an alpine body of water at 1,776 meters in the Limone Piemonte area, in the province of Cuneo. The audience watches from the grassy banks, with the peaks of the Maritime Alps providing a natural backdrop—an experience that blends music, landscape, and mountains like few other events in Italy.

From Occitan roots to new sounds

Born in 2025 from the evolution of the previous "Note d'Acqua" series, the festival has a clear mission: to promote the folk music of the Occitan valleys and place it in dialogue with contemporary genres and languages. The artistic direction is entrusted to Roberto Avena and Chiara Cesano, musicians active in the region and recognized both nationally and internationally. The event collaborates with the Occit'amo Festival, a network that has been promoting the Occitan culture of the Cuneo area for years, thus expanding the international scope of the performances.

What to expect

  • Daytime concerts with the lake raft as a one-of-a-kind stage
  • A repertoire ranging from Occitan tradition to folk, from singer-songwriter reggae to electronic fusions
  • Traditional instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, diatonic accordion, bagpipes, and accordion alongside guitars and modern rhythms
  • Local artists performing alongside guests from the Pyrenees and the south of France

The mountains as a stage

To reach Lake Terrasole, you use the Riserva Bianca ski lifts: the Bottero gondola or the Cabanaira chairlift, followed by a short walk to the lake. The event is designed for those who love to combine music with a day in the mountains, amidst hiking, panoramic views, and the authentic atmosphere of the Piedmont Alps. Concert admission is free; only the ski lift fees apply.

Terrasole Festival — edition 2026

The second edition of the Terrasole Festival features two concerts on the raft at Lake Terrasole, at 1,776 meters, above Limone Piemonte. It kicks off on August 2 with Bistrò Dalfin led by Sergio Berardo and concludes on August 30 with Gigi De Nissa, the reggae voice of the Nice-based band Nux Vomica. Free admission, access via gondola or chairlift.

The 2nd edition of the Terrasole Festival confirms the formula that won over the public: two folk and singer-songwriter concerts staged on the floating raft of Lake Terrasole, at an altitude of 1,776 meters in the Limone Piemonte area. The series continues its collaboration with the Occit'amo Festival and maintains the artistic direction of Roberto Avena and Chiara Cesano. Admission is free; the lake is reached via the Bottero gondola or the Cabanaira chairlift.
