The historic Cuneo hill climb between the sea and the mountains
The Garessio - San Bernardo Slalom is a staple of the motorsport calendar in lower Piedmont. The race takes place in Garessio, a charming medieval village in the Province of Cuneo, and climbs the road leading to Colle San Bernardo, the mountain pass connecting the Tanaro Valley to the Ligurian side. This is why enthusiasts have dubbed it "the race between the sea and the mountains."
The track measures approximately 4,180 meters with an elevation gain of about 300 meters, featuring eight scenic hairpin bends that put both drivers and vehicles to the test. It is a technical and spectacular climb, set in a landscape that blends the Ligurian Alps with the nearby sea breeze: a terrain that rewards precision, courage, and the ability to read every curve.
Organized by the Supergara A.S.D. racing team, the event gathers dozens of drivers every year, ranging from modern vehicles to historic cars, with classes spanning from E2 SC group prototypes to silhouettes, and from group A and N cars to classic re-enactment models. The competition is valid for regional trophies and sector championships, attracting teams from all over Northern Italy.
More than just a race, the Garessio - San Bernardo is a celebration for the entire community: the roar of engines brings the weekend in Garessio to life, the natural grandstands along the hairpin bends fill with spectators, and the Cuneo village becomes a meeting point for motorsport enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors. An event that, edition after edition, weaves together sporting passion, alpine landscapes, and local identity.
