The fastest half marathon in Umbria
The Terni Half Marathon is the half marathon in Terni, Umbria, traditionally held in the first weeks of January. Organized by the association #iloverun Athletic Terni in collaboration with the Fondazione CARIT, it is known as the fastest half marathon in Umbria: a flat, smooth city course, ideal for improving your personal best.
The race takes place on a 10.433 km circuit to be repeated twice, plus a final straight of 231 meters, for the standard 21.097 km. The start and finish are located in Via Leopardi, in the city center. The course, with few changes in direction and historically favorable weather conditions during this period, attracts athletes seeking fast times every year.
The distance is FIDAL homologated and also valid for the World Athletics ranking, included in the international calendar. Alongside the half marathon runs the "Metà Mezza" (approximately 10.4 km), a shorter and more accessible version, designed for amateur runners and those new to road running.
Despite being a city race, the Terni Half Marathon has gained international recognition: athletes from dozens of different countries, from Kenya and Ivory Coast to Japan, Argentina, Ukraine, France, and Germany, line up at the start. An event that brings sport and visibility to the Province of Terni during a period, January, when few running calendars offer races of this caliber.
The 8th edition of the Terni Half Marathon took place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, with the start at 10:00 AM from Via Leopardi. On the 10.433 km city course to be repeated twice, plus a final straight of 231 meters, over 600 participants competed in the half marathon (21.097 km, FIDAL-homologated and valid for the World Athletics ranking) and the "Metà Mezza" (approx. 10.4 km), now in its fourth edition.
The 2026 edition confirmed the race's international vocation, with athletes from Kenya, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Iraq, Argentina, Ukraine, France, Germany, Romania, Japan, Spain, Albania, and Moldova. The event, organized by #iloverun Athletic Terni with Fondazione CARIT, served as a race for the assignment of regional Master category titles.
