The Terme Vigliatore Carnival

The Terme Vigliatore Carnival is the most colorful event of the year in Terme Vigliatore, a town overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Metropolitan City of Messina, Sicily. Born from the participation of the area's various districts, it is a deeply rooted popular festival where the community gathers around the parade of allegorical floats, masks, and music.

Allegorical floats and local districts

The most anticipated moment is the parade of allegorical floats: every year, over five floats take to the streets, built and maintained with passion by the various districts of the town, joined by the float from nearby Protonotaro. The parades usually start from the Vigliatore and San Biagio areas to converge in Piazza Municipio, the beating heart of the event, where award ceremonies take place with the presentation of plaques to the most deserving groups.

Masks, music, and shows

Alongside the floats, the program offers masquerade parades, theater workshops, games, and entertainment with local dance schools. Great emphasis is placed on music and entertainment, with shows, DJs, and street dancing that involve both adults and children. In recent editions, the festival has also hosted well-known names from the music and entertainment world, attracting a large audience from the entire Gulf of Patti area and neighboring towns such as Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto and Milazzo.

A festival for the whole family

The Terme Vigliatore Carnival preserves the genuine character of Sicilian village festivals: it is a free event designed for families, combining tradition, artisanal creativity, and social spirit. For a few days, confetti, costumes, and music transform the streets of Terme Vigliatore into a large open-air stage.
