The Teatro a Pedali Festival is a unique project in the Italian landscape: the only theater festival where the spectators themselves provide the energy needed for the show. Sitting on bicycles connected to a cogeneration system, participants pedal to power the lights and sound system, transforming physical effort into real, visible energy. The audience's participation thus becomes an integral part of the performance: if they stop pedaling, the show risks going dark. In Frossasco, at the foot of the Pinerolo mountains in the Metropolitan City of Turin, this format transforms a theater evening into a collective act of sustainability.

The Frossasco stop, in Piazza Donatori di Sangue, hosts the show «Pedalando tra le storie» by Daniele Ronco: a theatrical journey built by collecting the voices, memories, testimonies, and anecdotes of the inhabitants of Frossasco and nearby Roletto. A choral story rooted in the community, weaving local memory with the participatory experience of pedaling. The event is free of charge and is aimed at audiences of all ages, in keeping with the family-friendly and popular spirit of the festival.

A touring and sustainable festival

Conceived in 2019 by Daniele Ronco and promoted by the Mulino ad Arte APS association, the festival travels every year through villages, cities, and natural spaces with a widespread program of low-impact performances. The 2026 edition, the seventh, runs from May to September with about 60 events including theater, music, circus, and scientific outreach, distributed across six Italian regions. The event addresses major environmental issues in an accessible way, from climate change to sustainable mobility and conscious consumption, not through abstract lectures but through the direct experience of live theater.
